I know positive talk about Coach Rhule is frowned upon and so many need a scapegoat so they take all their anger out on him but his players and coaches really do seem to like playing for/coaching for him. I’m on record as to giving Coach Rhule the benefit of the doubt this year. I know I’m moreso in the minority in regards to fans but it’s good to see that the locker room is tight.

The guy that has never stuck anywhere else in the NFL and was only active on Rhule's roster 4 years into an NFL career, and who came from Rhule's Temple after they were the only ones to offer him a scholarship as he transferred away from Florida, has nice things to say? Who could've guessed.

Look, people can be nice and intelligent but that doesn't mean they're good at actually implementing said information. The past 2 years have spoken louder than words, as this year will as well.

So let me get this right… a guy who has played for exactly one NFL team thinks every team runs the same thing… yet Mayfield, who just came from a different team, is stating that this offense is unlike anything he’s seen… Not to mention, Cam stated last year that he put himself in a bad situation by not giving himself enough time to learn the playbook.

Concepts might be the same because there’s only so many different things you can do on the football field but to say that everything is the same is asinine.

Thompson was with Jacksonville and Chicago as well to some degree (practice squad, TC, etc), but those were hardly offensive masterminds the last few years. I'm sure he's a great guy in real life but I take his words with large grains of salt.

I think it comes down to what you said, I’d stick up for my meal ticket as well. Thompson is still on the practice squad and I’d imagine making $200K a year to be a PS player beats making 50K a year working at Enterprise.

Lots of coaches are nice humans that players like.  And the NFL is a talent driven league.   Nothing there really to dispute. 

The number one knocks on Rhule are his vision and eye for things have been bologna.   The manner in which he has gone about building things.  And he isn’t a good game day manager.  

I mean he can be a nice guy that players like as a human.  That’s not the thing people bash Rhule on.

The whole 'Year 3' thing is ridiculous but what gets left out of that take is that his prior teams also notably improved in record from years 1 to year 2. Carolina not only did not improve their record in year 2 but were notably worse on the field vs year 1.

Rhule has given his boy a hookup he otherwise wouldn’t have. Dude wouldn’t even be in the NFL at this point. Of course he’s gonna talk about how great Rhule is and enjoy his free ride.

Not all players get that or feel that way on this team. There was quite a bit of eye rolling going on with Rhules various college antics and group exercise punishments.

      Icky was always a weak pass blocker come out of college. Cross was the premier pass blocker in that class. Much easier to learn run blocking than pass blocking. I never expected Icky to ever become an elite pass blocker. If he was average, that's all I really expected. I did expect him to be an absolute mailer in the run game.

      We aren’t in danger of being in the basement anymore and if we keep drafting well we could get to the playoffs after a while. I don’t mind if we get a new QB and coach eventually but we are “stable” and I’m grateful for it.

      I prefer 9-8. Reason being, winning season shows overall improvement and is the 1st step to establishing a winning culture. Backing into the playoffs with a losing record doesn't show you earned anything. It's the product of a weak division. If playoffs were based off records, most likely you're not going because another team(s) have a better record.  Chances are too, the next season, you're going to have a tougher schedule and a couple of those bounces that went your way are going to go the other direction and it's another losing season and no playoffs.  There have been 5 teams to get into the playoffs with a losing record. The 2014 and 2025 Panthers are 2 of those teams. Losing record trip 3 isn't exactly something I would be proud of doing. We have 9 playoff appearances so far, 2 of them simply because we won a shitty division. Another one would mean 30% of our appearances are only because we were the least stinky turd. That's a stat I'd want to flush.
