Am I the only one who thinks Atlanta will go QB?

The amount of mocks I’ve seen without anyone mocking them a QB blows my mind. Ridder isn’t the long term solution and if 1 of the 4 are still on the board I think you have to try

Super possible. I don't think they go into next season with Ridder penciled in at starter. Does that mean draft? FA? Trade? Who knows? But yeah, taking a QB in the 1st round is definitely very possible for them.

They have a lot of holes, I see them taking the best defensive player. Maybe they fall in love with a QB there, I can see it going either way but my best guess would be them taking a D.

Unless Stroud or Young fall (they won't) I don't like our chances at getting a franchise QB this draft, but I'd still try with Levis or whoever. We gotta just start throwing those darts out there on legit top prospects. Corral doesn't fit that bill. If whoever we draft this year sucks for 2 years, then try again and rinse and repeat until we solve the issue.

Then why draft him in the first place? You think they drafted him #74 last year to be a permanent backup?  I'm not aware of NFL teams that draft qb's every single year, but our fans think we and Atlanta should start a trend.

They figured at 74 it was good enough value to take a shot and see what the kid had. The same thing we did with Corral.

Not quite sure why this is such a hard concept to grasp when dealing with the most important position in all of sports

This. If you take a swing there and land a franchise QB you got a massive steal. If he ends up being a decent backup it's still a pretty good pick. If he's an outright bust it still doesn't hurt you all that bad vs. typical 3rd round pick expectations. If you think there's a chance the guy is a starting QB the pick is well worth the risk.

    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
