Rhule: We don't need to make any changes, we just need to battle through it right now.

We are going to have to change coaches like we change underwear until we find the right one. It was time for Ron to go and it was unfortunately never time for Rhule to be here. He should have been let go last year but Tepper sounded as if he was hell bent on proving to everyone that he was right in his hiring choice. Who knows, if we continue to lose maybe Tepper will get a clue this season and let him go then clean house with rest at end of season since many are Rhule guys. I wouldn't keep many at all from this entire staff.

Agree and my biggest concern with Carolina is Tepper. I wish he would just write checks and stay out of everything but this isnt how he operates.

By this logic do you want to hang onto Rhule because we could potentially do even worse?

To be fair, this very well might be what Tepper is thinking. 😂

Carolina has a 9 game losing streak which is worst stretch in the NFL. I’m not sure it can get much worse.

It feels like some weird dynamic between Tepper and Rhule holding the firing of Rhule up. Maybe money, maybe ego. Tepper didn’t hesitate to make quick decisions for the new training facility, Charlotte FC coaching (which actually looks like the correct move) etc. Something’s up here. I didn’t buy that he’s ok with this. He really hates loosing at anything.

Tepper called Rhule his Chuck Knoll. He comes from the Steelers who notoriously give their coaches plenty of time to figure things out. This has more to do with pride than money for Tepper.

Yup and Tepper absolutely loathes the fans that complain about his decisions. He will not do anything that will make the fans happy unless he has no other choice when it affects his pocket directly.

I agree with this. I think Tepper truly believes he is some sort of genius level guy that just sees things that aren't there. I'm sure this is spurned by his business successes where he stayed the course and was proven right.

Well, this is the NFL. He doesn't have the football acumen to realize what everyone else already has, Matt Rhule will never be a successful head coach in the NFL. He could get 3-4 more years of NFL experience and he still wouldn't know how to be successful in the NFL. It's not in him and he isn't a real football guy like he makes himself out to be.

I think you are right. He’s at the point where everyone else knew it and said it out loud two years ago. The firing of Rhule is him admitting he was wrong and everyone else was right. And that’s why he won’t fire Rhule until we are mathematically out of the playoffs. Which should help our draft position I guess.

On the flip side of that he was reported to be one of the minority owners who wanted to fire Tomlin. Which is just fuging insane so I don’t think he’s gonna give Rhule one more year if he doesn’t make the playoffs. Which we won’t. I’d fire Scott too tbh. Get a GM or give Morgan the promotion and let the GM have the most power to pick a HC.

    • He's handing off play calling duties to fuging Brad Idzik as well so, either that mouth breather can run the playbook and Canales can grow as an all around head coach or it will be a horrible decision and both of them and BY can screw off. I'm fine with that as long as it isn't just another excuse for BY to get another year with another coach worthy of working around his limitations as a qb.
    • Not only for Andersen but the whole team, having not beat the Habs this season before tonite.  Shows them that they aren't jinxed.
    • I understand why people say things like it could be worse in relation to Tepper but it just doesn't jive for me. Are the optics bad? Yes. Would I want her to be the owner of my team? No. But I mean she's only been owner for a year and the Colts overall are a better run organization. As far as I know they've also never had the distinction of having the worst win percentage in all of professional sports either. Tepper has owned this team for 8 years and about the only thing that has been consistent has been the ability to continue to find different ways to achieve new lows. Even now people are saying things are different yada yada but we said these same things at certain points under Rhule Fitterer and Reich. I'm going to wait to see how the rubber meets the road this upcoming season before I make any strong conclusions about anything in relation to the longevity under this franchise going forward.
