"Panthers invite the general public for QB tryouts"

within the article........

" Wilks stated, "Its something innovative, exciting and Tepper agreed its our best shot at finding a healthy backup to Eason come this Sunday." Many with the NFL front office are questioning the move while the Panthers organization are busy ordering 100s of new game jersey's with "your name here" on the back for the anxious participants when they show up at Bank of America stadium on Weds afternoon to test their savviness as they compete for the position. "We have former small college QBs, ex high school players and even some people who played in Pop Warner all ready to shake off the rust and test their stuff against others", Wilks elaborated.

Concern about how soon one of them could learn the Panthers playbook within days after being selected to be dressed for this Sunday's game against Tampa, Wilks stated, "It's no problem..........hell McAdoo doesn't know what the hell he's doing and I don't know a thing about offensive plays in the NFL so why would it matter if this new backup QB would know anything?"

Tryouts start on Weds at 1pm sharp........participants will receive a free parking voucher along with a steak and ketchup lunch after completing their tryout. The results will be announced on WFNZ radio during the 7pm sports update.

Jacob Easons passes looked slow to me. What should have been bullets were a beat behind and looked alarmingly pickable.

Scary. I didn't see anything special.

He has a cannon. That’s not the thing to worry about. They looked like good balls to me.

Added bonus…his throws passed the line of scrimmage too. 🔥 🔥 🔥

I suspect that if Eason were farther along in the playbook he would have been elevated over PJ before now whether PJ was injured or not. PJ is one of Rhule's guys remember.

As soon as Darnold is healthy he will either start or backup Eason until Sam is up to game shape. PJ will go to the practice squad or the unemployment line. Wilks just doesn't believe PJ belongs on the team and frankly neither do I.

Yeah, i think if Baker hadn't have gotten hurt PJ would have been unemployed after the SF game.

Since the Panthers are at the bottom of the league in total offense, third-down conversion rate, big plays, 30th in red zone offense, and 29th in passing offense and yards per play, I would like to see them give Jacob Eason a shot at starting.

It is obvious that the team is heading to finish near the bottom of the league this season and will be looking to select a QB in Round #1. Eason is probably not our answer as the starting QB the team sorely needs but with his rocket for an arm, he could bring some excitement to a team that is boring to watch.

They have nothing to lose at this point and a lot to gain if Eason can show some of the talent and outstanding promise he had in high school and college before he was forced to move from school to school and several NFL teams for various reasons.

I played QB in high school many years ago, so this could be the break i have always dreamed of. 🙂

    • Yeah I think he's just talking continuity it's not really an endorsement. Also I would think CarolinaHuddle of all places would understand using "we" for the team you follow. I can't STAND when dorks do the "Oh so you play for them then? Hurr hurr"
    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
