Offers for Burns

The only way I would consider two firsts is if it was the Saints pick the Eagles own, and another first. Otherwise, I think it's going to be a wash with who we would draft with those picks. It would help secure the first overall pick, but I'm not certain we need any more help with that.

So, I don't think it would be worth trading Burns. Realistically, it will be hard to find a replacement via the draft. It could happen in free agency but will cost a huge premium unless the team can turn it around in a year to start luring in free agents that want to be on a competitive team.

However, it's possible the team thinks we still could win too many games this year, and if that's the case they'll definitely try and move Burns. Without him the defensive line will be completely inept, with limited pressure.

All depends on how we plan on using him next season.

He cannot be great in a 43, only show flashes.  In a 34, he is Von Miller.

In Panther land, under the Defense Dujour, he is good only part of the time.  He sucks when a 320 Tackle is run blocking.  So we need to make up our mind how we are gonna use him before labeling him, trading him or whatever.  Not sure why we are gonna trade guys on D until we have an idea the scheme for next season.

If we put in a 34 and have shipped Burns off, then we are searching again for an elusive player.  If we are gonna run a 43, then get the picks and don't look back

Why would you want to do this?

To get you the best coach possible. To get you the most young talent possible.

Add those to the picks we already got and get a great coach and a clean slate with a lot of picks to build his team with.

Don't stop at Burns, either. Whoever will get you multiple picks, as long as they aren't OL, you trade them  no one outside of the OL is untouchable.

Someone wants Jaycee and is willing to give us a first and more? You trade him.

Someone wants DJ and is willing to part with another first and more or a couple 2nd rounders? You trade him.

Seriously, the more picks you can come away with, the better.

One way or another, this team is going to be completely unrecognizable next year...and that's a good thing.

A nice contract and the ability to shop for your own players.

“well believe it or not, we actually had some good players. We thought you’d hate that though, so we got rid of them and figured you’d want to just hope for the best.”

You have to stop at some point since you don't want to have too many high picks coming up for contract at once. If we're stacking picks, I hope we go for Harbaugh. HC with experience which seems to be a Tepper requirement. Not too many young offensive minds with a lot of experience available.

I don't know why you guys stay connected to these players....sure he's a good player, not great. But this team has STUNK with this current collection of guys. I know coaching has been absolutely atrocious and that's a big reason, but a new coaching staff is going to want to bring in their own players anyway. If the Panthers can get a haul for Burns, YOU TAKE IT. There will be a new collection of talented players to cheer for, hopefully a group that wins.

If you read the rest of my posts in here you would know I’m good with taking a haul. Two firsts minimum. I’m just saying you can’t act like burns is easily replaced. He’s not. We could draft a bust.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
