How do you feel about CJ Stroud

This was the game I was waiting for to see if I wanted to jump on the Stroud train... and I will say now..... he is not it. You can't be surrrounded by that much talent and then when it's finally time to play legit competition and you come out with this dud.

I am sure the coaching staff has a bit to do with it as well, but there were too many snaps where I could count to 3 and Stroud still had the ball in his hands unable to commit to decison on getting the ball out.

He's not going to carry a NFL franchise. He was gifted the elite of the elite WR's in college football. OSU QBs cannot understand or comprehend what open in the NFL is. Fields still cannot complete passes. A good fantasy football QB doesn't mean they'll be a good NFL QB. Hard no on Stroud. This class isn't that good overall. They are just like the 2021 class that we were told was "can't miss" by all of the so called "experts."

Bingo - Fields having the same problems in the NFL. Just noted this on a previous post. They cannot overcome the shock of how "open" is defined in the NFL.

Fields is progressing every week and he’s a completely different QB than Stroud. They shouldn’t even be compared.

With all due respect - this is NOT progress. He is not progressing as a passer. Watch the game & not just the highlights of him running. He has not progressed one bit. He has one passing game over 200 yards, that's extremely pathetic in today's NFL.image.thumb.png.99fd1a93dd7df39e2d81c02ce9edfe94.png

With all due respect I watch every game and I am not simply just linking his stats while telling somebody else to not look at the stats. He is absolutely progressing as a passer. First 6 games, 4 touchdown passes and 5 interceptions. Last 6 games 9 TDS passing and 3 INTs. Every game during the last 6 over 60% completions. Or maybe you just don’t understand what the word progress means?

not as a passer.... he still has the same issues he had last year.... lets not forget the last time Fields dropped back for a pass it was an interception...

After separating his shoulder two plays earlier and running the ball on the play before the interception THAT HIT HIS RB IN THE HANDS.

This is a common problem for many college QBs due to offensive scheming and modern playcalling in college.  They aren't even being given the chance to make anticipation throws and they also are being taught into being risk-averse.  Fitzpatrick had a phenomenal take on this some weeks back on PMT.  They're focused on their stats, not making INTs, and not pushing the ball.

They are essentially trained for being risk averse and modern coaching is causing them to lack ability to create plays.  Allen and Mahomes cracked the code in the modern age.

Stroud's accuracy and anticipation does in fact show the ability to create but he has a problem with pocket hesitation.  He had 3-4 absolute NFL-tier beauties today that were anticipation throws downfield.  He has a lot to like but there's some QB "gene"/clutchness type questions that he has to start answering.

    • The era that you played in, and, more importantly, who you played with actually matters. Honestly, that's why these issues will be debated forever, as it's just difficult to say that this person or that person is better when you're discussing the passage of time. As for me, after Rice, Moss and maybe Megatron and T.O., there's probably a dozen or so guys that can be argued about to the cows come home. Personally, I'm not putting Fitz, Harrison, Johnson, Evans, or especially D-Hop, Jefferson, Chase or Hill definitely in front of Smitty (and Colston ain't even in the discussion). Context and all that stuff actually matters. Things like the triple crown matter.
    • Some of those guys? Yeah honestly you can.  I would 100% take Steve Smith over Larry Fitzgerald, Harrison, even Mike Evans. He is 100% a better player than those guys in his prime. If you look at the numbers Smith is historically under targeted in comparison to his contemporaries. He was only targeted 150 times or more only once in his career. Fitzgerald for example was targeted well above that 9 different seasons. Had Smith played with Peyton, Brady, Greatest Show on Turf, or even with Warner in Arizona he would broken records. His 2008 season was ridiculous accumulating 1400 yards in 13 games on less than 80 receptions. All time he also lost a season due to injury in 04, barely played WR as a rookie. Got robbed of 1k season with Clausen. Thats easily another 1800yds minimum that should have been tacked on to his #s. The only guys I’d say for certain are better than Smith are Rice, Moss, TO, Megatron, Julio Jones, Antonio Brown.
    • I parked in this lot a few times. It would take over and hour to get out of that lot after games. Never again
