Matt Rhule: “I wish I never took the job”

At some point, somebody needs to sit him down and get him some professional help.

We may be thumbing through the channels in a month or two and find him on Dr. Phil.

I've seen similar things out of people before, most who were fired or pushed out (the Government rarely fires anybody for anything, they just move them to a different position and generally one that did not exist the day before).  It generally does not end well.

His undoing, if he doesn't dial it back, may be in his contract details.  I have not seen anything about his contract with the Panthers or Nebraska, but the typical one contains a "code of conduct" clause.  He may want to have someone explain that to him, because they are usually vague and boil down to "thou shalt not embarrass the employer."  That could impact his buyout from the Panthers and his future at Nebraska.  They would not be the first university to get rid of a coach who became a burden using that.

Cam nailed it. right on the frikkin head.

they hadn't bought in, but it wasn't the fault of the players. the problem was there was nothing of substance to buy into. all he was selling was platitudes and pews at the church of rhule.

Tepper bought in for $60 million. That alone proves he should not be making football decisions.

    • People apparently forgot that offseason. Stafford and wife met with McVay in Mexico the offseason he moved. McVay convinced him to leave. Stafford went to the Lions and had a very emotional meeting in which he said he wanted to leave. They obliged based on his time there and the compensation offered(which included Goff). It was a very amicable split. People in Detroit still revere him to this day. He has been open about his affinity for them, as well.
    • going from High school to the pros would be incredibly easy
    • Smitty was a 3rd rounder.  I’m not really saying draft one high at all, 3rd being higher than I have in mind for this year. I am completely with the people that say ‘enough’ high picks on “weapons for Bryce”. Enough of that. Don’t want a weapon drafted early, Yet Again.  For that matter I wish we weren’t forced to address LOT because I want linebackers and big guys. And OL depth in the mid to late rounds. Maybe some late insurance at RB. A QB if the right one is begging for us to snap him up.    But looking at the WR room and believing Moore is sort of redundant or maybe even not a great fit,  and then just recalling the numerous calls for a burner, I was only really saying what I think would be the best type of addition.
