I'd have a much easier time buying into this if it wasn't for that damn Bengals game.  Maybe that entire game is excluded as "garbage time" because that pretty much summed up my experience watching it.

I'd really like to know what happened in that game from a coaching perspective.

heads rolled afterwards. would love to know what those two hacks had done prior to that.

The same defense that let Seattle back into the game. Twice.

scoring a TD with 14 seconds to go while down 2 scores should not be classified as "let X team back into the game."

It was defintely our youth showing though, if Horn tries to make a tackle there instead of a pick, the game ends there.

This is also the same defense that held the seahawks to under 100 total yards in the 2nd half and only 3 pts.... until that final drive.

Yeah that same defense.  That would’ve never been in that situation had they kicked the FG or hadn’t attempted 4 consecutive passes down on the goal line coming up with 0 points

How do they define garbage time? Was the entire Bengals and 49ers game considered garbage time?

Our defense is good and I would consider them a borderline top 10 defense. They definitely aren't the best in the NFL and we have lucked out we haven't had to play many elite offenses. Honestly, outside of the Bengals and maybe the Seahawks, have we played a good offense this year (not sure what to consider the 49ers pre-CMC and with no Mitchell)

What about the 49ers or Browns? One theme running throughout those 3 losses. Defense couldn’t stop an elite, or in the case of the Niners elite scheming, running back and the offense had to shoulder a ton of the weight. Which pretty much never turned out good for the offense.

I believe garbage time is classified as final 8 minutes of the 4th quarter and 3 possesion+ score difference

    • I mean I think the best case scenario has to hit for the Panthers and everyone else in the NFCS has to hit their worst case scenario.  Personally, I think this is the year that NO finally collapses and I think they finish 4th in the division regardless.  ATL is overrated but still likely a 6-9 win team. TB plays tough football, their defense will be there but their success depends on the offense, they too are a 6-9 win team.  The Panthers are probably 4-6 wins at best. If they find some sort of momentum during the season and get 7-8 wins, and TB and ATL struggle then maybe but I find it very unlikely.
    • We screwed up a couple years ago taking Bryce in the first place.  Nobody held a gun to our head to jump from #9 to #1.  Most people who keep up with draft news knew this 2024 QB class was loaded and we should have waited, which I advocated. It was a dumb move and I knew it.  Now we have to roll with Bryce another year.  That's fine, because this 2025 class isn't that great.  I like Ewers, but not super high on him.  If Bryce shows improvement, which I think he will, that should get him at least one more season before we have to decide on if he's the permanent answer or not.  I've said before, the 2026 draft is the next window for a franchise QB if Bryce isn't the answer. Bryce gets this year and next at a minimum.
