yea i replied in context. I should have clarified.

Not sure I'd call it a mistake. It's still interesting.

If I understand correctly, though, if they don't get Dorsey, Moore or Kafka in this week, they have to wait until they're done in the playoffs.

I thought the NFL changed the rule this past offseason. Due to coaches getting pissed that they have to wait to make a decision due to a franchise waiting for another coach to get done in the playoffs before making a decisions.

I could be misremembering though.

Feels like we keep hearing different things.

I know there was a proposal out there to withhold all interviews until after the Super Bowl was over but it got shot down (for the moment at least).

We cannot interview any of those 3 candidates (Dorsey/Moore/Kafka) this week. This week you can only interview currently employed external candidates virtually if they are not in the playoffs or have a Wild Card bye. Starting next week after the Wild Card round and prior to the divisional games on 1/22, we can conduct in-person or virtual interviews of candidates whose teams played on Wild Card weekend.

Gotcha.

The rules are kinda weird.

Realistically, it makes sense. I know if I was an owner of a team playing this weekend I wouldn't want an important member of my coaching staff doing HC interviews rather than prepping for the game and I don't think any of those candidates would want their focus divided between prepping for a HC interview and prepping for a do or die game in a few days.

This would support the idea they are waiting to talk to Leftwhich. They can't talk to him this week because he's coaching the WC game.

OK....I have a feeling Ben Johnson is gonna end up being the guy. I have to admit I'm really nervous about him though. Just scared this is gonna turn into all of us looking in the rearview saying "what the fug were they/we thinking? Of course this wasn't gonna work out".

Besides “keep pounding”

“what the fug were they thinking” is a fantastic mantra for the Panthers franchise

I know there are some changes because of the rise of virtual interviews.

For most of my life, that wasn't a thing. Every interview was conducted in person.

I wish Tepper would just forget this idea of going after washed up coaches that have already been canned. There is no Andy Reid out there.

Also, what are the chances Ben Johnson secretly wants this job more than the others because he’s from NC? I am holding on to hope this is somewhat true, as BJ is starting to emerge as my personal favorite.

Andy Reid got canned

That's grossly unfair on teams looking for new head coaches. You want your guy through the door asap.

    • Not giving Bryce any competition is just really outstanding to me, for all the talk about how other players on a roster need to be pushed/jobs taken i dont see how a QB is exempt. I dont care where you are drafted. It also installs a comfortability factor in a player that's not needed. Never make a player feel like they dont need to earn anything, its not always good thing.
