Trey Lance?

Gotta pass on this one unless it’s a 4th round pick or less. He hasn’t shown anything to merit giving away a high draft choice…or multiple high draft choices…for him.

Interesting scenario playing out in SF. We’re seeing that NFL teams can find quality players (including QBs) later in the draft. Of course a late round choice needs to be in the right environment to flourish (strong supporting cast, good coaching, and the player of course has to have a strong work ethic). In a bad environment any QB will likely fail no matter how high he was chosen in the draft.

Purdy and Jalen Hurts are proving that the top 10 (or top 5 for some tanking pundits) isn’t the only place to find a good QBs.

Just now, LinvilleGorge said:

I mean, what's ignorant about it? Lance has started four games and looked okay. Not great. Not terrible. Okay. Mr. Irrelevant looks a lot better. It is what it is.

You called him a bust after 3 games.  1 in which the offense was designed around him and that was in a monsoon in 6 inches of water.  Calling him a bust is borderline retarded.    Saying he has started 4 games and got hurt in the first is disingenuous at best.   Shannahan is clearly a top 5 coach in the nfl so I am going to side with him in these matters over some rando message board guy.

    • I did not want to start or even think about *if* BY reverts back to pre-non last 9 games.   There is a lane in which Panthers are looking QB after this season, I feel its higher than most will realize. I mean....not kidding... has any team ever traded up to 1st overall twice in the teams history? I don't even want to think within 3 years, just foresee Tepper squeezing Dans and Brandts sacs to the point were they are forced to trade up for a another savior.....   The kicker is I feel this way with BY playing good-great..... I think there with be non-fixable problems for contract negotiations between BY&reps vs Panthers org on the whole. You can not pay 50+ million per over few years with 70% guarantees for 3,303 yards 15 TDs and 9 INTs......Cursed I tell you....
    • It's not surprising, but it's still surprising that many of these guys don't manage their money in such a way that provides them and their families a better lifestyle than most for the rest of their lives without even working a nine-to-five. I can't imagine making over a 100 mil for a decade and ultimately ruminating about supporting my family due to financial issues.
    • That why i mentioned the KC dynasty. Those three different playoff loses were not Allens fault, in fact 1-2 plays and Bills win. KC just have better players and better coaches and more luck.  Defense-wise, Bills have been trying to crack the Reid-Halhomes magic. Its near impossible with rules and KC home field advantage. Spags has started to force the league in naming him the best DC in NFL history. I agree if you take away Bill bielacheat.... Add in Andy Reid the best QB coach and brilliant play designer/play-caller, I mean that's too much for one QB to over-come on his own.  Just trolling or not, bad is bad scot. Allen is legit as any one QB has ever been.
