Roman Harper thinks Sean Payton could be our next HC now

Can I ask why? They seem very similar in experience and everything…

Only 1 year as OC under an offensive HC, no experience developing QBs, just something about him rubs me the wrong way and as someone else here mentioned reminds me of Gase.

Steichen on the other hand has developed Herbert and Hurts, 2 very different types of players.

I actually prefer a proven guy, Harbaugh was my top choice but with him out now it’s Payton. Steichen would be my 3rd choice.

The pie was for the Steichen explanation not Payton. He is gross…

Man I was torn on it I’ve hated him with a passion for over a decade. But what I hate more is not having the Panthers as a joyful break from life the last 4-5 years. I’ve come around to thinking Payton can fix that and I’m willing to give it a shot. I’m not gonna be upset at all if we don’t get him but I’m preparing myself to be excited for the possibility in case it does happen. God knows we haven’t had much reason to be excited lately

Again, I respect your personal stance, and feel the same way about my day to day life and the people I associate myself with.  But the NFL?  I just don't care anymore, man, because the NFL definitely doesn't.  Being moral and operating with integrity won't help you win a Lombardi, and you don't get any bonus points for it when all is said and done.

This is where I’m at. The league as a whole doesn’t give a poo, so why should I? I just want my team to WIN! The Cam years were so much fun because we won, and we always knew we had a chance. I’m just so so so tired of mediocrity. I’m not their boss, partner, friend, nothing. If they’re allowed to play, then fug it. I’m over having some kind of superiority trip. I just don’t care anymore.

    • You joke, but hasn't basically the whole team been in Charlotte this past week together? I'm not one to see the random dumb stuff players put out on social media in the offseason and think it means that's ALL they've been doing and not working on their game.  But it's a little strange that all this is coming out at the same time we're seeing tons of stuff with the team in Charlotte together, even if it's just working out and not even official team OTA's or anything. So he gets a pass from me saying anything now, but if he doesn't show clear improvement this season, it then opens him up to some retroactive criticism for some things.
    • Ha-ha, I bet that went through everyone's mind.  Admittedly I don't read all the comments in a thread before I make a post. Great minds think alike!
    • Cam was hitting his stride as a QB in 2017/2018.     This is why I think stats like completion percentage are overrated. As long as a QB is clutch and makes the throws to win the game the rest doesn’t really matter. What good is a check down stat padder if they’re a choker.  Until Norv Turner (and briefly Chud) got here we put Cam in high pressure throwing situations all the time. We also ran the ball on first down more than most teams in the NFL in the Ron era. Coupled with shitty WRs, all that is expressed in his stats. I also assume Cam took the ball in his hands on many occasions rather than trust Funchess to catch the ball.    It was also never Cams job to play the game like someone else. His presence on the field dictated the game in a way that is rarely seen.  He showed he could play the dink and dunk game just before TJ Watt. That didn’t suddenly make him better than his earlier seasons. He just got put in a legit under center  passing game again for first time since his rookie year with Chud.    Ron took the quickest path to success and abused the RPO because his ass was about to get fired.    Cam never got the credit for being the cerebral player that he was. I just think when you are legitimately a human Superman, sometimes the best play is having the ball in your hands. He was a better passer than Delhomme was.
