FYI: Albert Breer said in his latest mail bag that Jim Caldwell interviewed well here too.

Wouldn't be surprised if he gets a second as well, especially with Payton likely being out and his interview being good.

I think it's pretty much down to the grouping of experienced HC's.

Which is kinda what I expected when the search started.

To be fair, we don't know for certain that Payton is out.

The Panthers seem to be keeping a pretty tight lid on things.

I know it sucks waiting and speculating but I'm glad they're actually doing their due diligence this time around.

Gun to my head, it's coming down to Reich or Wilks.

And after this month long process of trying to find out who the HC is, I'll be content with whoever they choose, because it will be obvious that that person has a plan/good idea for a staff in mind.

I'd probably prefer Reich just because I want to finally break the streak of overly conservative, defensive head coaches.

Very curious to see what happens and also to hear some of the behind the scenes rumors as to why we didn't prefer some of the other available options.

    • I am sure it must be nice to have a live arm that doesn't hit the broadside of a barn or a guy lasering a pass into a DB's hands.  Dalton serves his purpose perfectly fine. Don't completely get the wheels blown off and potentially have a shot to win a game or two. I think a lot of people are definitely confusing "starting" versus "backup."
    • Damn straight, bro.  Well said.     And yeah, I was hurt as a kid when Mack left for Texas.  I didn’t understand it because although a college football powerhouse, UNC was on the rise at the time.  He had been churning out competitive teams and was bringing in a ton of legit football players who would go on to the pros.  But I guess he foresaw what was to come, because it’s like we have never been able to crack that glass ceiling.    And I agree about looking forward to the collapse of it as it currently stands.
    • What ever happened to the days when we had really good backups...Berline came off the bench throwing dimes...and Anderson was fantastic...now we have a couple chuckle heads that I'm not even sure they know what sport they are playing..(and yes I know Berline was about as moble as a geriatric star fish...but man what a arm)
