NFC South Division being weak next year could influence trading up for a QB this year?

I'm a proponent of a trade up if we identify a franchise guy.  Simple as that.

It shouldn't feel like an, oh well, Richardson is the only one left, let's just grab him at 9 and hope we develop him.   It should be a proactive get for the QB we want, and yeah, I would wager some future picks.

It's not like we can't still draft and find more talent.  Depending on where the trade up is, we could easily keep one of our seconds and mid rounders.   So what if we're missing out on what could've been a Terrace Marshall, Tommy Tremble, or YGM pick that was included in the trade.  Those choices show those picks on their own are gambles in their own right.

The whole draft is guesswork anyways.  If you think you've found the best guy in it and can grab him, f*cking do it.

Not to mention after this season we have a boatload of Cap room.. So get the QB Now while we have a solid Oline and some weapons.. Let’s see how good coaching and developing works and by next season we are a player to fill some holes thru FA..

Yeah, my only added want within this type of move is adding weapons on rookie deals that fit well and can grow with our QB.  If you find the guys that fit, you find a way to get them.

This draft has some really promising mid rounders at WR, TE, & RB.

Land a Stroud, you can still get some variation of a WR/TE/RB combo pack.  There's a lot to like after the consensus R1 ranks...some ideas being...

WR: Josh Downs, Rashee Rice, Jonathan Mingo, Malik Knowles, Moreno-Cropper

TE: Luke Musgrave, Dalton Kincaid, Luke Schoonmaker

RB: Zach Charbonnet, Sean Tucker, Tyjae Spears, Chase Brown, Roschon Johnson, Abanikanda

We don’t have to do all this in 1 off-season.. If we get the QB and the coach right this offseason I’m good..

True, it'd still be cool to grab one or two to grow with the young gun from day 1.  Could help create an entirely new and tight locker room. I hear ya though.

I'll tell you one thing, it's sure as hell refreshing to be past the HC hire and look towards the build out now.

Colts at 4 not gonna trade so Reich can get a QB, Seahawks might want a QB at 5, As well as Lions at 6.  Cardinals at 3 would be lots of capital but I bet they'd be willing to trade back

Do whatever it takes.. Stop bargain shopping and go get the QB..

Maybe and Caleb are not promised either.

And every year it seems people suggest waiting for the next class of QB's they will be better.

I remember because people were saying wait for Bryce and Stroud last year.

We can't keep waiting nothing is promised. Go get our guy now. We deal with the results later.

I have no problem with trying for a rookie qb this year. Hell, I'll be absolutely ecstatic if we get Stroud. My only worry is having to give up a future 1st (or 2 1sts) for him or Bryce Young. If it doesn't work out, we're set back for years. If we give up our 2 2nds and #9 for Stroud, or we stay at 9 and take Richardson, or even something like package 9 plus Brian Burns for Stroud/Young and suck completely in any of those scenarios, at least we have our 1st in 2024 to try again.

Chance you take but sooner or later you have to do it.. Might as well do it now when the infrastructure to help a young QB succeed is in place and ready to go..

If thats all it takes to get stroud then so be it

Not to mention Wentz didn't entirely work out, yet they've since won a SB and are one of the final 4 this year.  Comes to show all of the supposed capital they gave up didn't even have THAT big of an impact in their build in the greater scheme of things. If you think you found a QB, go get the dude.

    • I'll be patiently waiting to see what OL additions we snatch off the waiver wire.
    • Look don't get me wrong here. I'm not arguing it's going to just change his arm talent overnight. I'm just saying doing anything on the physical front after the GM who stuck his neck out for him over the concerns around his physical traits got fired is better than doing nothing. That's another layer. It could easily be argued overall he needed to add at least 10 pounds not just for the sake of working in the pocket and not going down so easily but let's be honest eventually no matter how much we invest in the OL he's going to get hit some and those hits will add up. His frame as it stands is only going to absorb so much over a 17 game season. Oh definitely good or bad we will have to run a lot of under center stuff. Bryce will either look good or flounder. But our offense will remain stagnant if we just keep running shotgun plays 90% of the time. You're telegraphing your offense otherwise. That's why I'm not giving Chuba Hubbard too hard of a time over his YPC last year. We weren't fooling anyone. We'll see what Canales has cooked up. It better be pretty damn clever.
    • Why would a team ever not be aggressive in improving the roster? It may look different from year to year but even the best rosters churn at the bottom. That's a no-brainer.
