Carr Watch

Nobody should be freaking out that we are meeting with Carr. It was always going to happen, whether the Panthers are very serious about it or just wanting to consider every option available. It makes me feel better, actually, that the team is looking into every possible scenario to see which one could put us in the best position to win. Instead of putting everything into one basket.

That doesn't make sense though. Carr is going to want a lot of money.

Why pay a guy a 3 year contract probably worth 100 mil to be a bridge for the next 3 years?

Jimmy G would be cheaper and would probably take a 1 year prove it deal because of his injury history. I rather go that route if the plan is to still draft  a QB. Even Brissett/Minshew could be a bridge QB.

Because I'm not paying Carr $35M per year. If that's his market value I'm not signing him.

If we land him, I could see a scenario where we still pick up a QB in April but more like Haener in R3-4.

Why would we do that when we already have Corrall. If we go all in a FA QB then we needs our picks put towards filling other holes. Not another clip board holder

It's not just due dilligence. They know his asking price they aren't meeting with him for shits and giggles. It's not like we're going to walk in and tell him take this low end prove it deal or we're outta here.

We are never gonna have another exciting person at the QB position again are we. It is just gonna continue to be boring retread vet after boring retread vet. I am so tired of it.
Thanks for nothing Wilks.

QB is off the board if we sign Carr. You have to put weapons around him. He's not a QB who can carry a weak offense like Rodgers/Lamar.

#9 pick has to be a WR

Two 2nd round picks need to be a TE/RB

Or WR, DE, TE 1st and 2nd round

S, RB, or LB in 3rd round

Another QB late rounds

    • I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.
    • Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.
    • Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
