Carr Watch

QB is off the board if we sign Carr. You have to put weapons around him. He's not a QB who can carry a weak offense like Rodgers/Lamar.

#9 pick has to be a WR

Two 2nd round picks need to be a TE/RB

Or WR, DE, TE 1st and 2nd round

S, RB, or LB in 3rd round

Another QB late rounds

Why would we do that when we already have Corrall. If we go all in a FA QB then we needs our picks put towards filling other holes. Not another clip board holder

One pick of many, and I don't want to settle on a maybe with Corral.  That would be our 4th or 5th pick in the draft.  This is all a big if anyways, and I don't think we land Carr.  Well, hopefully we don't ha.

That is why so many are against it.

Yeah he's better than what we had, but he's still in that tier of QB's that are good but not good enough.

Then you look at our roster and a mid tier QB and you realize the team wouldn't make it very far in the playoffs.

Carr had more weapons in Vegas than he will have here. We would have to add a lot more around him to even think about making a run. Im not a hater im just being real.

For the record, this team has had five solid seasons of losing.  I have a hard time (with) complaining that we won’t go deep in the playoffs the next couple of years if we sign Carr.

My number one goal would be to establish a winning culture.  You have to win to do that. Carr would mean we would be likely to get that done.
You can always go deeper in year three or four when you have your successor, who has been brought along in a winning organization, by a pro.
Hard to overvalue having a competitive team that will have a lot of wins, will bust down the two in a row wall, and maybe go on to three or four or five straight winning years. Depending on how they draft starting now.

edit: if the team doesn’t want Carr, fine. I guess. I mean, if they know the6 can get Mr young long term starter in the draft that’s fine. I don’t believe that person would realistically be there for us if he exists.

Carr has been to the playoffs 1 time in his entire 9 year career.

If you using him as an example of winning then we are in trouble.

This team will win because of the team around him and the weak division.

Still a win. I believe you are underestimating the effects of those.

Honestly you are talking around these threads like a spoiled child. Like lots of Panthers fans. I want it now.  Now.  NOW! Don’t care about the cost.

I don’t either that much but it needs to be kind of set in stone that this is what to do.  So obvious that even I can see it.  We are not there, and a mistake (with those stakes) really buys you some misery.

edit: I didn’t really mind the latest Athletic mock where we went #9 and a later pick to move up two or three spots for a guy.  It is the massive wager of the next 5 years or even ten to get out of a mess you made yourself.
Like, time to stop digging the hole deeper.

Stafford was 0-3 in the playoffs before going to the Rams. He still has a losing record as as QB by a significant margin.

Yeah it's the only QB that seems to get compared to Carr.

We don't have the Rams roster.

Nobody is saying Carr is bad. I just feel a lot of people are ignoring his struggles as a franchise QB. Dude had some of the best weapons in football and the team still struggled.

He's 32 and needs to be on a loaded roster to achieve what Stafford did. That's asking a lot.

Entering the season last year, he also led the league in 4th quarter comebacks and game winning drives since 2015. That's not a defense of Carr, just proof that he can get it done when his number is called. I'm not saying I want Carr. Football is a team sport and the Raiders have had some terrible defenses and coaches. Give the man credit where it's due.

Bro I literally said he is good QB aka middle tier QB.

Im not about to call him elite when he has 1 playoff appearance in 9 years. You can call him elite but im not doing that. I judge QB's differently than any other position.

Is being a "good" QB a shot at Derek Carr?

People really need to stop trying to compare Carr to Stafford. When you dig into the numbers one thing that stands out to me is his turnovers. 99 interceptions and 80 fumbles. As far as I know he leads the league in career fumbles. Now does that propensity for turning the ball over remind you of anyone? Sam Darnold perhaps? No way in hell you give this guy 35 million a year.

I'd prefer not to have to bring in a high priced vet or give up multiple high draft picks on a player that could just as likely turn out to be a bust as an answer at QB.  Unfortunately, the team's options are limited.

Good news is, Tepper has pulled out all the stops and brought in a highly respected group of coaches.  So, I won't be losing too much sleep over what transpires at QB in the coming months.  Frank and Friends are here now and paid the big bucks to figure this stuff out for us.

For all our sakes, may they choose wisely.
