They are still working on a deal but were very far apart in the beginning. Panthers chose not to franchise tag him because they do not believe his market value is what his representatives are claiming (Appx. 16 million/yr) which was right at the value of the franchise tag. It is completely ridiculous that the NFL doesn’t differentiate a franchise tag of an offensive tackle vs interior olinemen. 
 

They do so for DT and DE.

Burns deal, in theory, should open up future money for a couple of seasons.

Y'all must've forgot that Elflein is not a good starting OL. His value is as a versatile backup who can play any of the interior OL positions. The issue is that he doesn't play any of them particularly well.

We have enough money and can work the cap to sign both of them plus a few more free agent pickups. No need to worry about picking one IMO.

Cade Mays might be an option as well. I think he has played C before.

I just read above he wants 16 million potentially. No thank you. I like Bozeman but no center is worth LT money.

There are some good centers in the draft--it is deep at C, but do you want to start compromising with the OL now?  I would rather go without an upgrade at TE than let a good starting C walk.

Yeah, there really should be an OT tag and an IOL tag.

He literally started as a freshman at Georgia and started every year afterwards at various positions--I think he was a steal in the sixth round. He did start at least one game at C.  I think they played him some at C during camp last year.
