Speculation my dude.  Which #1 overall picks as a QB has multiple Championships?  I can think of 4 off the top of my head in the past 40 years.  Actually 3* because even though Eli went #1 overall he actually got traded to a different team.

Yeah and the goat was picked like 200 something so we can’t use confirmation bias to make our judgements too early IMO.

To be fair, one of those QBs got a championship as a retirement gift from the NFL.

Sorry, I don't see an Elway, Aikman or Peyton Manning in this year's draft and those were the three.  Peyton didn't even win his second ring with his draft team.  Now we are down to Elway and Aikman.  Elway didn't get his until seasons 15 and 16, which happened to be his last two.  That kind of longevity with a single team is unheard of nowadays.  That leaves Aikman as the only one to win multiple Championships early on with his draft team.

Looks statistically sound choice to blow up our next three drafts to move up, right?  Statistics could care less about a fans base's misery index.

If we sit put at 9 and take Levis, hold that same energy.

Ppl need to stop dreaming.. None of these QB’s are dropping to 9.. The top 4 will be gone before pick 7..

You want a QB you have to go get them this year..

Agreed. But it's not for Joe Burrow. It's for a complete NFL unknown you're hoping like hell you're right about. I'm not opposed to it. I just acknowledge what a massive risk and roll of the dice it would be.

Fitt is on his last life, Reich is 61 - collectively they both probably dont give 2 fugs about the future if this doesnt work out

In other words, If we move to #1 and the dude flops, we are hamstrung until 2026.  Wonderful!  I get the other end of the argument too, but the downside is much worse than the upside is great.

If guys like daniel jones and sam darnold get 4 and 5 years to show their talent then I am perfectly on board with giving someone like Stroud 3 years to get his poo together.  3 firsts doesnt cripple you like you think

Exactly this. Media hype is blowing this out of proportion. The fact that none of them are really separating themselves all that much (all have great reports in their own rights) helps us in terms of being able to be patient.

If you believe this report Stroud clearly separated himself as the alpha yesterday

Once again; Fields dropped to where he did and the entire class last year dropped further than any media led us onto believe. Obviously this class is different but it’s been proven that media vs front offices do share different perspectives. What good does it do for Reich and Fitt to come out say we really trade everything for Stroud or anyone?

The debate comes down to what is better: Big contract and grab a sure thing with Rodgers or Carr or give up draft picks and grab a young stud QB that will be on a smaller contract for years.

I have no idea what is a better option

    • I don't see it as drafting a premium player to sit and wait if Walker gets hurt. We need a legitimate swing T. Unless you have a Sewell or Slater type tackle that is pretty much a sure thing, these guys can need some time to develop year 1 just like a QB ideally should. They all haven't played the elite 5 star talent on the edge. If we think another franchise tackle has dropped to us at 19, you have to pull the trigger. The position is just too damn hard to find. If it's just a "we need a tackle and this guy has a T on the board", yeah, move on, take one in the later rounds. But if that guy is there, let him back up and learn a year, then slide him into LT on year 2 of his rookie deal.  I don't see us being able to offer Walker a multi year contract after a prove it year, pay Moton his final almost fully guaranteed year, Hunt, Lewis a center and do a 50-60m extension for Bryce. The 3 most important positions on the field are QB, blindside tackle (usually LT), and edge rusher. Those are the premium positions that cost the most and are hardest to come by. If a starting caliber talent is there at 19 you have to pull the trigger.  I understand the need for a DT and S. I've been on the C and FS train for years. If we weren't staring at a potential Bryce extension, it'd make the decision a lot easier I think. It's just with all these huge contracts I don't see how we can hedge our bets on being able or even wanting to re-sign Walker, especially if he has a bad year. Icky and BC's injuries really hurt our long term plans.  If no blue chip talent at those 3 key positions are available at 19, by all means pass and draft another position. But I think it's pretty safe to say we don't have a guaranteed lock at any of them right now beyond Phillips, and they have to be somewhat of a priority.
    • Not completely accurate. I'm sure Roy is lobbying for him and Larry Brown has spoke put in support too. But Hansbrough has made comments pretty critical and hinting at a need for change. Joel Berry has gone a step further and said the standard has not been met. Scott Williams who was a teammate of Hubert's at Carolina has gone all the way and said it's time for a change at head coach.
    • 4.25 according to the ACC network broadcast. If only this guy was a couple years younger but he’s still a dawg.
