Anyone else upset we haven't locked down Chark? Not saying he is great but it gives us a number 1 that has to be accounted for which puts every other receiver exactly where they should be, meaning Theilan 2 , CMJ 3. N Shi 4. Am I crazy

No. He's not worth getting upset over. He's ok would be a nice piece but nothing to get excited over.

I believe these FA signings have showed us that Carolina has bought 2 years to find the future at TE and WR. Hurst and Thielen are on the wrong side of 30 and are a temporary fix....though will be productive here for the next couple of seasons.

We've got the next two offseasons to figure out our WR1 and TE1 of the future.

Thielen I agree with, Hurst only has 5 years worth of wear.  Can def see using him to set the foundation for passing TEs in the offense and bringing along more guys with his skillset by the sunset of his contract.  Get guys in to surpass him on a rookie deal or make a splash in FA in a few years. I could see him here for up to 5 years health and production dependent.

Chark deal shows we either gonna see if he's healthy enough for an extension after the season or we'll def be in the market for a WR in the draft.  The 1 year deal doesn't resolve the need in my eyes.

No, but it does give us more time to draft one and let him learn behind these vet guys for a whole year. Everything time wise is being set up perfectly.

Exactly, I still think we target one. Yet it gives us the ability NOT too if there's a better defensive prospect.

    • From Bluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/nutshellsportz.bsky.social/post/3mo3rkrcezs2e  A look at Run Threat Rate across the NFL Run Threat Rate is the percentage of plays where a team either runs the ball or uses play action. This compares each team’s rate when leading or tied versus when trailing to show how much they abandon the run when playing from behind.
    • That's the current dilemma on both parties at the moment. If Ickey comes back too soon, he won't be 100% and his play will suffer. Leading to a potential decrease in his contract. If Ickey is unable to play and sits the entire 2026 season, his contract will still take the same hit since it tells all 32 team that he is not fully recovered. On the Panthers side, I'm sure they would want to keep Ickey if he is fully recovered but he is obviously in a contract year. They don't want to re-sign him to a massive deal since it be too risky and they know if Ickey is able to return to form.  Best case scenario, the Panthers wants to offer Ickey a 1-2 year heavily incentive based prove it deal. However, Ickey would most likely decline the offer and test the market as  another team can come in and offer Ickey a better deal if they are desperate enough for O-line help.
    • They have been giving him a lot of snaps at RT to give TMo some relief in camp. I think that will continue for the time being.
