They asked Fitterer if he could remember a pro day changing his opinion about something. He said most of the time it just reinforces what they already know as far as the workouts.

The real opportunity, he added, is the chance to get to know the player as a person and get to hear what the people around them say.

Ok so we make the trade after the combine where Stroud throws in front of everyone and Bryce doesn't, they also meet all the QBs. Signs point to Stroud there, but then a whole lot of subsequent reporting immediately says it's actually going to be Bryce Young. Yeah, I think that's a bit of a smokescreen. But I'm down with either one of these guys, just like Stroud more because of his prototypical size.

I think there is definitely room for movement at the top. Pro Days and Visits are probably more about personality fits than necessarily arm talent but for a staff that is just starting to get to work together there is definitely potential that changes some minds.

Not based off of comments from Reich/Fitts. If anything I think the interviews could have more weight than watching them throw without a defense.

I don't think the pro days will change a thing and believe they were sold on one of the QBs before the combine and making the trade. The only reason to make the trade is if they were sold on a certain QB, decided he wouldn't be there after the first 2 picks, and knew the Texans wouldn't pass on a QB and would take whichever was available at 2 instead of trading their pick.

I remember telling you this and then you repeated it, taking credit.  It was an ugly scenario.

No, I remember you saying it.  It caused me to take a deeper look into Young, and I watched one analysis that sold me on the pick--he was at the LOS, calling line blocking schemes and changing the play---very sophisticated--demonstrates elite processing.

You have to be careful about the workouts because the best QBs are rarely the best athletes.  the reason?  They must be the best processors first.  I think Stroud is going to be great and I would not mind taking him, but if this group of coaches thinks Young is the real deal, then who am I to argue with them?

A few hints that have been stated along the way:

The comparison between a QB and a point guard.

Comments that his size does not bother them.

Basic descriptions about what they are looking for in a QB--and they praised Bozeman and Thielen recently about their positivity and character--it matters a lot to them.  Not that any of the top QBs have character concerns, but Bryce is beloved by his teammates--even the Georgia Bulldogs talked about what a great guy he is---leadership matters.

For me it just comes down to whether or not, Reich, Fitt, and the Teppers (yes, wifey will have considerable input) believe that Young's size outweighs all the other tangibles and intangibles that he possesses. He has been excellent in the undisputed best conference, and he has really demonstrated durability throughout his collegiate career playing in that conference, so I'm thinking that from an intellectual perspective that he is the pick.

If he isn't, or if he isn't enough to turn down a few extra draft picks, I'm good with that also because there's a lot to like about Stroud's smoothness in the pocket. But at this point, I think we're taking Young unless the Texans blow us away.

Lol. Trust who you want based on their reporting record, not off of how they word their tweet or if they use the word "sources".

Yes you fugging genius if the source gets fired they can't continue to get some SUPER SECRET SCOOP can they?

You can count on one hand how many reporters out there you can trust ... and even they are in the clickbait and clout game. But you go on thinking they're out there sneaking news to us common folk like a spy, and if we're on the social media we can know before other people do. You're so smart!

Even the way that Fitterer was talking would lead me to believe that Pro days are mostly for interviews about the prospects. Unless something terrible pops up about a guy, I seriously think our choice is "cemented."

"Yeah, we’re still going through the process right now. Obviously, we have our ideas. You’re not gonna make a move like that without having that pretty much cemented. But now, we’re going through the process of talking to the players and really getting to know them.”

Why do people keep believing the Texans are totally besotted with Young? It's lying season after all.

This I agree with. They made their decision, which is why they moved up to 1 and only finding some Danny Elfman Skeleton GIF would make them truly consider someone else.
