PETER KING with the latest: there are several within Panthers organization that favor Bryce Young

the “ball placement specialist” thing with Stroud really seems like branding that people have really lapped down

Young was fitting the ball into much tighter windows at Bama than Stroud was at OSU (and the advanced metrics that have been shared here back this up)

my real concern there is if Bryce has the arm strength to drive into those windows at the nfl…but with nfl windows being much larger than they used to be I think hes got a pretty high floor.

I'll take film all day over advanced metrics. Stroud can put the ball in spots where Young can't. Especially on deep outs. From the pocket as well.

It’s a tough spot. With Cam the other QB options weren’t anywhere close. It was basically a choice between him or other blue chip talent at other positions.

Stroud has the least compromises overall.

In hindsight, sure. But there were a lot of folks around the league back in 2011 who preferred Blaine Gabbert as a prospect.

Bryce Young has plenty of arm strength. I don't know where that narrative comes from. Stroud's is a little stronger, but let's not act like Young has a noodle arm.

Also, the narrative that Stroud's accuracy is somehow head and shoulders above Young is misleading as well. He's more accurate, yes, but it's not like Young isn't close. And on the run he's probably more accurate.

I certainly wouldn't have a problem with us drafting C.J. Stroud, but I think a lot of people here are majorly discounting what a special talent Bryce Young is due to his size.

We finally have a chance to get the most accurate QB, one with prototypical size and arm strength. If we chase Mahomes magic by taking a player who doesn’t have his physical ability (or size), I’ll be disappointed. I’d support Young, but he is so tiny. I’d be holding my breath every play.

I can't shake the feeling that in 3 years time people will be discussing how ludicrous it was that Young was ever in the conversation for #1 overall and of course he was going to bust.

I've my money on ppl thinking Bryce Young size talk was so RIDICULOUS kind of like Rashan Slater arm length or Kenny Pickett hand size etc...

If you pick Young and he breaks in a year or two or can't stay on the field like Kyler has yet to, yeah GM gets fired for screwing up the #1 pick while STROUD is out there balling.

Young will have to play under center more, scramble less, get the ball out faster. That's a lot to improve plus he's undersized.

Too much risk for #1. Guys loving him up but when he breaks...

The reverse is also true.  If you pick Stroud and Young tears it up while Stroud has trouble transitioning, the GM may end up unemployed.

Both are pretty accurate, had decent weapons, sat behind excellent lines and faced tough competition.  Both have shown magic.

Stroud is 5 inches taller, heavier, and appears to have  a slightly bigger arm.

Young just appears smarter, sneakier, and quicker than Stroud.    Its hard to measure those things, and who knows how either is going to progress in those areas.  We know Young is not going to get taller.   If Young was Stroud's height, I don't think there would be as many Stroud supporters.

Right now, I'm leaning toward Young.  I'd like to watch Young's worst game, does anybody know what Young's worst game was?

    • I can say that I have defended Canales because I get that they are doing all they can to keep from looking like idiots for drafting Bryce, from the trade up to signing $150m guards to drafting XL and Brooks etc---nothing seems to work.  And Hiring Canales was part of the Bryce Young rehab program, so so he can't really decide to "move on."  That has to come from Morgan and Tepper. Personally, I think Bryce is due for an injury.  He is small, he is not thick, and he has been a LOT more healthy than most any other QB has who has endured so much pressure.  The thing that bothers me is this---Bryce really does not go through his progressions quickly.  He locks on to his presnap read and stays locked onto him for too long--he seems to fail to anticipate the WR/TE's positioning on the play before the cut--for example, if the WR is running a dig and the CB has his back to the inside of the field, he should be open for a second or less just after the cut.  He seems to wait until the cut has been made before deciding, then checking down quickly while moving in the pocket. OL:  There seems to be a lack of communication--is that on Mays?  Watch this team presnap--they seem a bit confused at times.   I can almost predict the success rate of the play by watching the center and QB before the snap.
    • Anyone else remember back in 2010 when Fox piloted having music under the in-game replays during one of Carolina's games? Not the commercial bumpers but the actual replay clips that the announcers would talk over. Pretty sure it was vs the 49ers. And it was terrible. Point being, Carolina continues being so bad that we get the networks trying things out during their games.
    • Is it bad I found this video more hilarious than pathetic? I am still laughing at that one play where half the people on the field ran into each other and Bryce still couldn't see Chuba wide open... Also laughing at Cade blocking nobody and somehow losing his cleat Man this offense is a poo show
