Yeah I’m almost certain Corral will or has changed to his college/high school #2.

Makes sense.

…or as people much smarter than me on here have said, Corral is a piece of poo and is gone anyway because he’s a piece of poo.

Whichever narrative you prefer.

He’s not a piece of poo.

I never thought he was a franchise guy.

But thought it was absolutely crazy for anyone to say we should trade him.  He Is good and talented.  And very easily can be developed into a high level backup (which is valuable in this league)

A fair take. Trading/cutting him when he hasn’t been able to show anything isn’t wise.

I for one don’t want all my hope in Dalton if push comes to shove.

I was just posting on another thread how he could develop into a nice backup for Young. Similar quickness with a quick release and accurate. You wouldn’t have to change up the playbook too much.

And if he shows out, trade him to recoup assets. If Stroud/Young bust for some reason? He’s a bonus shot at fixing QB.

I mean, over 1/3rd of the league had to play their backup QB in meaningful regular season games last year.  And I believe a majorly of the playoff teams did.  And I’m not talking because they rested guys, it’s was due to injuries to the starters.

Its a contact sport.  No matter how big or small your QB is, he can get hurt.  And probably will have at least 1 injury in his career.  You need a good backup, to help win you games when called upon.

i mean

heck, our Fugging HC won a Super Bowl as a OC after his starting QB was having a favorite win MVP season, got hurt.

Luckily, they had a Nick Foles who could win those few games, and the biggest game, when needed

At one point in time they were the top 2 Heisman candidates. Both are from Cali as well.

Definitely no to #9, too weird for a pass rusher for me (plus if Bryce is the pick, that will be his).

Wouldn’t hate 0 for him, but I’d rather see Horn take it.

I kinda like 53 on him, pretty unique for a pass rusher and he can make a claim for being the player you think of for that number down the line.

It probably just came down to that no one was willing to trade literally anything for him. So yeah, just bring him to camp and see what he can do. I honestly think he still has an uphill battle to make the 53.

    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
