Most of the big stories out today are about fifth year options, cuts, etc.

Here's one that's not though, and one that might be kind of important.

The wife and I had a good long conversation during the 1st round that something seemed off about Roger that night.

Nothing major, we both picked up on it but couldn’t exactly figure out what it was.

22 million for Love?

Is he really worth that much or is this just "F--- you, Aaron"? 🤔

To get that 22 the probably have to win the super bowl, in which the answer is yes.

13 for a unproven starter is a little steep, but not enough to cripple you and gives Love generational financial security so he doesn't have to think about surviving to the next contact.

They know what they are doing.

I think you guys are missing why GB did it. 2024 was Love’s fifth year option, which was $20.1M fully guaranteed. They gave him the opportunity to earn 10% more but it also gives GB the opportunity to save $6.5M if he blows this year. Seems like a decent risk reward. If he’s all that GB wants, paying an extra $2.4M is no big deal but it takes 1/3 of the risk away from a fully guaranteed 5th year.

It’s similar to what we didn’t do for Darnold. We didn’t take any risk off the table for the what if he sucks option. Love deserves a bit of extra $$$ because unlike Sam, he didn’t have a track record of he sucks. Sam did have that he sucks track record and we still have him the fully guaranteed money instead of making our risk having to pay an extra $4M if he was so hood we had to franchise. The franchise tag is a lot more expensive for QBs now so GB took the correct approach.

the longer you do that job, the more enemies you gradually make.  eventually, the enemies outnumber the allies.  I am guessing that is where we are now.  I have no problems with Goodell.

I would like to see Goodell stay because his replacement could be a lot worse, . "If it's no broke, don't try to fix it".

    • I'm less concerned about Young getting hurt while rushing, because like you said, he doesn't take a ton of risks when he scrambles.  I'm far more concerned that at his size, a crushing sack by a big DL might snap his body in half. But this topic is exactly why I'm not very high on Jayden Daniels long term outlook unless he drastically changes the way he plays.  He basically looked like RG3 pt 2 out there last year, he runs with reckless abandon and doesn't protect himself from hits very well.  If he keeps that up, he won't have a long career and/or he's going to miss significant chunks of time every season due to picking up injuries.
    • I think the "Top 10" classification is much more simple than people think, at least for me. Put every QB in the league into a re-draft of only QB's, does this player go in the Top 10 of that draft or not? If they do, they're a Top 10 QB, if they don't, they're not. And yes, things like age/contract would matter in a real QB draft, but in this instance things like that or future injury concern are thrown aside, essentially looking at it on a year to year type of thing as you're talking about a current Top 10 list.
    • Probably so but don't know if it's Smith or Nikishin getting the bump to a pairing though. They both skated on the fourth pair.
