Panthers have one of NFL's most 'obsessive' fanbases

Location definitely plays a huge part imo. Raleigh is located right in the heart of NC. Charlotte on the other hand is damn near in South Carolina. It makes more sense from a travel standpoint just to move all the pro teams to the heart of NC imo.

Charlotte is in the center of both Carolinas as its a regional team and not a city team.

Nobody is traveling 2 1/2 hours on a Sunday to see a football game. When most people have to work the next morning.lol

That is a Charlotte crowd my man at least the majority is.

Come to a Canes game. Tell me how different the roar is from the crowd compared to a Panthers game. We like that!

people drive that far to go to dodger games out here, and LA is notorious for having "bad fans". there's only 8 home Panther games compared to 80 baseball games too. I'm sure people in charlotte drive to canes games and people from Raleigh drive to panther games.

PNC arena holds 20,000. BOA holds 75,000. It's amazing what an enclosed, intimate arena can sound like vs an open / spread out stadium.

We have one of the weaker fanbases for sure. We had the #1 pick in the draft and I only saw 9 Panther fans in the crowd.

BOA is 60/40 on a good day. Charlotte is flooded with fans of other teams.

I keep saying this, but the crowd support would be much higher if the team was moved to Raleigh. Just something about Charlotte the crowd is just not loud enough. The Hornets games are the same way smh.

No one is moving to Raleigh dude. Radio has been ragging on the canes playoff atmosphere for weeks

How are they coming when the crowd is 60/40 at best?

Have you ever been to a game when the panthers are good?  We've sucked for 4 and a half seasons. When the team is good people show up. Same as 99% of other fan bases. How many people were going to canes game when they sucked?

the attendance still sucks but I think it's mostly because they're a "new" team, charlotte is full of transplants that root for other teams, and obviously the product is too inconsistent. when the panthers are playing well it definitely get rockin.

GOAT this is what I have been trying to tell you this entire time.

Im not knocking Charlotte as a city. Im just saying the location isn't exactly great to build a true HFA. Certain cities in NC have much more rowdy fans. Charlotte fans seem more laid back than usual. Even the bars are much more quiet.

Charlotte is where the money is, the team will never move to Raleigh. You might as well get used to it.

Yes!

I was at 3 games during our best season in franchise history. And the crowds were still pretty underwhelming. Maybe it was 70/30 back then.

Cool story.  I was at 13 of them and disagree

What you think is loud may not be as loud to another person...

To act like we have some huge HFA at BOA is crazy. Even our good years the stadium was never overwhemingly Panthers fans.

The Seahawks is what you call a true HFA. That crowd never changes. It's always 90% Seahawks fans. Panthers have never had that type of crowd.

Never said we're the loudest fanbase but when we're good fans show up. It isn't 70/30 when this team has a winning record.  The exceptions would be the steelers and cowboys. That's probably 70/30. And that's because those fan bases don't have a brain cell between them and will pay 5x face value for tickets

Not very good fans there if they don't travel a few hours to Charlotte. Most people who are serious fans travel for their team.

    • Surely, since Young is the qb he is, a 3 year NFL starter, a qb with exceptional command of a playoff team, and many of us are just too stupid and blind to recognize, he will have no trouble mopping the floor with anyone from this list of has-beens and never-weres.
    • After two seasons, I definitely have strong opinions of his playcalling and even stronger ones on his game coaching abilities.  Isolating AT as logic for BY success doesn't make any sense. Look at his body of work, his ratings in intermediate and deep, his bad throw percentages or FOR fuging SURE his terrible footwork. As I have continued to stress, he is an arm throwing, scrambling QB with significantly below average arm strength and underwhelming athletic ability for a modern QB. The "clutch" stuff is a lot of wishful thinking for a guy with a very low career winning percentage. I have never heard clutch attached to a QB that has the kind of winning percentage that he does. It doesn't logically make sense. I understand you are keeping your hope alive but most of us can see what I think you will eventually come to realize, he just isn't an NFL caliber QB.  Sunk cost fallacy is holding onto assets in the hope of recovering a return, rather than taking your losses and reinvesting them into something that may pay off. This is the exact opposite of sunk cost fallacy by keeping a failed asset. He has to be one of the football dumbest players we have ever had in the history of this franchise. Easily the most football dumb 1st round draft pick. Yeah well he seems to fug that up pretty often too. Further back into the stands, I would say.
