Jake and Steve are involved, if you count his time as a position coach probably more. Staff and scouts are your thing so I'll defer to you on that. It's a small world especially when it comes to 32 football teams in a country of hundreds of millions of people

Jake and Steve wouldn't be in any position to influence personnel decisions. The front office is mostly turned over except for maybe Jeff Morrow who probably isn't that influential anymore.

Deac is right about Morgan, but I still wouldn't see this as nepotism (KSpan is right there).

Regardless, it's just a tryout opportunity to make it to the camp roster. I wouldn't bet on him making it to the final roster.

Here's what I'll say about Austin Proehl - he has a lot of his father in his game.  But he's just not talented enough.  Would Ricky have been as successful in the 2023 NFL versus the game 20 years ago?   Even then, he was a WR4-5.  Someone who could play, but not a game changer.

Best of luck to him!  It's a nice story, but I'm not placing any wagers on him.  Then again, he could surprise everyone.

It certainly would be a surprise, a big surprise. if Austin Proehl made the team in any form or fashion.

If a player is 27 years old and still trying to make an NFL team for the first time, the odds against success would have to be almost overwhelming.

You should go into politics.

I never understood the Brenton Bersin hate.  I know he was nothing special, but he was just a kid trying to make it.  He caught everything thrown his way.  I like pulling for guys like that.  Much better than pulling for someone that never lived up to his potential talent.

I understand why. If you remember correctly when he played, most of the time when his name was mentioned on here it was usually followed with his skin color. Its a reality some will not admit to but not the full reason either. Some of the other reasons I think included somehow his family's ties to Jerry and how the theory was that he was given the roster spot because somehow the Bersin family must have had some sort of dirt on ole Jerry like they knew his favorite website to whack his doodle to or something incriminating. He also had a couple flubs returning punts and people never forgot that. All three of those together got him lots of hate and smart comments. He did catch most of everything thrown his way but he was definitely replaceable and eventually was even if Brenton's grandpappy knew how many times Jerry shuffled his old dusty chicken to Two Girls And a Cup and threatened to tell the world.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
    • I don’t watch college football anymore (used to be Stanford STH but meh), but my wife is Hawaiian and her favorite color is purple, so I guess I knew Tet was my new favorite player to root for when he came out in a purple suit and lei and threw up the Shaka.
