Y’all are insufferable

I’m usually the negative one but I feel better about where we are than most.

Florida isn’t exactly murdering us like Boston and Tampa did in the ECF’s. We’re a couple of OT goals away from the tune being entirely different.

And let’s not pretend like Florida isn’t the hottest hockey team in the world right now. They beat what many thought were the two cup favorites out of the East in Boston and Toronto.

If we can figure out a way to get game three then doubt will start to creep in because Florida knows that they are only as good as their goalie right now.

I can see Florida winning in six games but I can also see the Canes winning in seven.

I don't think the Canes win another game this series. They got further than I expected and, just like most of us have said consistently for the last 4 years, they're still a piece or 2 from becoming a true Cup contender.

Its almost as if we had an opportunity to fix that.

You know there was a time where it was Million, myself and a buddy of mine and maybe a couple others posting in this sub. My buddy and I did a blog (there used to be blogs on the Huddle and it was a great time) on the Canes. It was a simpler time. We were pretty bad as a team, and nobody took themselves too seriously.

Now we're slowly becoming ridiculous. Y'all just enjoy the suck of being down in a playoff series

Yep!  That’s the point. Great call out. This team is really good right now. Let’s just enjoy the ride vs tearing each other apart over a sports team losing or something “god forbid” being positive.

Games 1 and 2 could have gone either way, for various reasons (puck luck, bad shots etc) our pucks just didn’t go in. I don’t think that will happen 3 games in a row. Obviously we are in a 2 game hole. But Let’s just see how game 3 goes before drawing any “final” conclusions. If we win it’s 2-1 with the chance to tie in game 4 in Sunrise Fladah. If we lose then it is what it is, a valiant effort with the players we had left on the ice.

We've taken them to OT and lost twice with absolutely no offense. The window is closing rapidly.

Just

fugging

shoot

We had 65 shots on goal in game 1 probably a season record. May want to amend that to say fuggin shoot… accurately lol.

Nah man you need to be blindly positive all the time. Keep saying everything is fine even though the house is on fire.

We are like Washington before they finally won it , with the Cup the stars(not Dallas) have to align in your favor

Fate delt us a bad hand with Svech going down, and the rest of our scorers are Mia, and facing a deep team

Let's please do not let this place get toxic also, I have about stopped posting in the Huddle cult , I have drank that Kool aid too many times, going to just set back and see what happens, atleast I can say Canes fans are in touch with reality more

We may win, we may lose, but at the end of the day, we still love our team

Yeah, I was on the "official" Canes board and those were some down times.  I've heard people call Rod's style boring...I'm like go watch the Canes during the Bill Peters era.   OMG I couldn't wait until they canned him, wish his dark news would have come out sooner so we could have gotten away from him sooner.

At any rate, I'm glad the Canes have come so far since then and it would be nice to have a little luck and have our team healthy during the entire playoffs.  Still my team through thick and thin and I am enjoying the success we've been having after all those lost seasons in the 10's.

Seen series like this a lot in the past and the Hurricanes need a big goal output in game 4.  A blowout would help the moral a ton but they have to win a tough hard fought game, probably 2 to make this a reality as a huge turnaround in this series.  It feels unlikely as Florida has a winning formula and no team has cracked it yet.  Hurricanes need to get this team out of their comfort zone right now

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
