What does winning feel like?  Its been like 7ish years since I vaguely remember something to that effect

i 100% believe we're getting ready to experience that again. i haven't felt this good or this confident about the team since Cam got here.

I hope we dominate this year. I feel like we will(especially with our coaching staffs track record) but I have a nagging suspicion otherwise, not a big one by any means, there’s just something that keeps nagging me out the messaging on QB’s so far. Next year we will be getting a division title for sure.

What messages about the QBs is causing you concern? Everything has been good so far.

I've said it before...there's no one that scares me in this division or on our schedule this year. Everything is lining up for a good successful season.

Just how they are dancing around not not committing to giving our young prodigy the reps during camp.(mind you I haven’t really paid attention since just after the draft as the canes were playoffing until last week so if the coaches have said otherwise I missed it). I worry about daltons ability to stay healthy. I really think Young is a first year into the fire QB and I don’t want to see us dancing around the subject. Like I said there is a good chance I missed something. Just can’t shake that feeling.

You've obviously missed something.

They've been giving Bryce the majority of the reps since the rookies and the vets have been together. They said they'd do as such during their pressers shortly after the draft, and the beat writers have written about how Bryce has gotten the most reps out of the QB's and has basically split or possibly even taken more 1st team reps than Dalton.

I know you've said you've been out of the loop but yeah I don't think you have to worry about them not committing to giving Bryce the reps because everything so far has indicated that they have.

They said he's going to be getting the most reps and he has and no one is talking about him being anything but the starter. Players and coaches have been pretty open about it. He's the guy. They haven't danced around it in the last 2 weeks and even then no one was buying it

Yeah, you don't make a huge trade up to #1 to draft a QB to have him sit and wait his turn behind a washed up vet. Dalton was signed as a vet mentor and a guy who could hold down the fort briefly if the rookie wasn't ready week one. When we signed Dalton, it seemed like we were gunning for the #3 spot, not #1. We only shifted focus to #1 when we figured out that the cost differential wasn't gonna be that much. Richardson would've likely been the guy at #3 so we had to have a vet onboard to ensure we weren't forced to play AR before he was truly ready.

But with Young, those concerns are out the window. The guy is ready. We'll see how the physical tools translate to the NFL but there are zero concerns with him being mentally ready.

I agree with everything said here but one small correction, we traded for the #1 pick on March 10th and Dalton was signed on March 14th. So I’m sure by the time Dalton was signed, he knew what the deal was and they had been in talks for the #1 pick well before then.

This is part of the reason I can’t wait for the behind the scenes video to drop this year. So many interesting things happened this off-season that I wanna know more about.

    • Would be cool if Melo and Kon tied for the season league lead in 3’s.  Either that or Kon straight-up.
    • I love the bottom feeding approach.  Not to say I was the only one, but I was screaming to draft Coker and then screaming to get him in here as an UDFA.  There were criticisms about him, etc.  As a Gamecock baby (Dad was a Tight End for them when I was born) I was against Legette.  I wanted the kid from Georgia.   All that to say this:  I am afraid of drafting a WR (I spent some time today researching) a few of the top names: 1. Jordan Tyson.  MCL, ACL, NHL---he has injured everything he could that ends in "L" and some things not related to his body.  He will drop, and everyone will start getting excited around 15.   NO! take him off the board. 2. KC Concepcion.  I want to like him, but is he not John Metchie III II?  I can't stand drops. To me, the most important characteristic for a receiver is hands.  I do not buy the "He can be taught."  I disagree to a degree.  Catching a football at a high level when you are being hit by someone behind you as you run full speed across the field is more about concentration and focus than anything else. You gotta trust your eyes, your instincts, and your QB.  Hard to teach someone not to fear something that hits you that you cannot see.  Dropping passes gets into your head--that makes you second guess yourself.  if it doesn't, it should.  Either way, it is a mental issue.   3. Omar Cooper.  I like him enough, but at 19? No.  He is a good YAC guy with solid hands.  However, he had a good WR across from him, the best QB in the country, a pretty easy schedule (He had his best games against FCS schools) and I wonder how much of the route tree he ran.  I am torn, not sold.  Of the three just mentioned, he has the worst skillset but I would like him the best as our Z. Who then, do I want, you ask? If it has to be WR, trade back.  If you can't draft the slow guy who can't get a good release.  1.  Denzel Boston.   If it has to be a WR at 19, I think I would take Denzel Boston.  His biggest criticism is the release (and 40 speed) but he had great hands and runs good routes. as the Z, which is what we need, he would be perfect because he could motion toward the LOS and even when on the LOS, he is off the ball.  Lets do some bottom fishing in Coker Lake: Round 2: Ted Hurst.  He is a model Z WR for this offense.  Drops too many balls to my liking, but as a second rounder, I can tolerate that a bit more than a first rounder.  Round 5: Kendrick Law (UK):  This is the guy I am most comfortable drafting.  His average route at KY was under 4 yards.  He is great at running after the catch.  Stats? don't look at the game stats--look at the measurables. A 42-inch vertical, a 10-foot-8 broad jump, and a 9.60 Relative Athletic Score place him among the most explosive receivers in this class. That kind of lower-body power, paired with his balance through contact and proven ability to generate yards after the catch, gives him a real foundation to develop beyond what Kentucky asked of him. I think they were considering drafting a WR in the first round.  I get it, but as with the tackles in round 1, "Buyer Beware."  I have not given up on XL but I am very concerned that his mind is not right for the NFL.
