2023 Charlotte Hornets Summer League

Recommended Posts

you guys have to respect how much pressure is on these guys to produce right away and how much it is impacting their games. nobody is moving naturally and nobody is playing the role they're going to play when the games start to count. miller isn't going to be our primary offensive weapon. he's going to be on the end of a lot of inside-out passes from a driving Lamelo for open shots. I wanted Scoot too, but I only wanted him because I liked him as a franchise PG better than Melo who I don't trust to stay healthy over a full season after watching his brother struggle and have his career cut short. I don't think people understand how hard Lavar worked these kids and how much miles it put on their body, but that's another story.

Miller will get those passes and either shoot or move the ball quickly to the next open man. He'll get some touches to take to the rim, but we wanted his shooting at the wing position because we haven't really had a true wing that could do it. we've been trying to plug guys like PJ into that job and undersized guys like Oubre and Rozier, but no real rim drivers. Miles played there, but his outside shooting wasn't good enough to be a real threat.

I don't think anyone should be expecting 25 ppg for anyone in this class their first season. I think you'll see a lot of these guys get 22-26 minutes per game and 13-15 ppg. They're teenagers and they need to be stretched into these 82 game 30 plus minute nights. Wemby is going to be more than fine, but they need to manage his minutes. Miller will be the same. The guards in this class might move a little faster in progression, but be closer to their ceilings.

I'm not a Hornets fan, and I've never paid much attention to this franchise, but I have recently become intrigued with the amount of ineptitude this franchise has been plagued with. Like a moth to a flame. This summer league squad is a complete joke, easily the worst summer league team I've ever seen. It is so obvious they are outclassed every game from the tip. Wemby looked like a complete bust in that Spurs game and the Spurs STILL won by 20. It seems impossible that james bouknight could really be this bad at basketball. I don't know if it is a failure to scout or develop talent, or a little of both. Unless you are the Lakers you need to excel in those two areas or nothing else matters.

I said last year that the Hornets should have traded Lamelo, all of their young players, and picks to the Lakers for Lebron and AD, who early last season looked too old and fragile to compete for a ring. Why not trade away young talent that you know you won't be able to develop anyway and swing for the fences. Lebron playing for MJ would have been the basketball story of the year, and the Hornets may have snuck into the second round. Now, after drafting another bust with the 2nd pick, the Hornets will be ass next year as well to repeat the cycle all over again. The Carolinas deserve so much better than this.

Once people realize he is a juvenile troll on his 5th alias then things start making sense

You spend most of your time on this sub talking to other people about me.

You can simply block me and all your problems will go away. But you don't even have the mental stability to do that. Im like a drug you can't get enough of me.

damn

Good discussion from Simmons and Ryen R about Scoot, Miller and the Hornets.

Starts around 30 minutes in

This validates everything I've been saying since before the draft and after.

Picking Miller over Scoot will haunt a franchise long familiar with self inflicted wounds.

Scoot is a pg.

The people who think he would dominate in Charlotte are missing the fact Melo would also be on the team. Scoot would not be able to do what he does with another pg who also likes to have the ball and make plays.

Im not defending the Miller pick, but it was clear the Hornets were making this pick because they viewed Melo as the franchise player. I think Miller will look much better when he's playing with a pg like Melo.

Scoot does look like the better talent though. I can't debate you on that.

Only a damn fool would make judgements off summer league games. I am not surprised.

You're right. If Miller was scoring 25ppg and looking like a star Id reserve judgement because it's Summer League.

However, the fact that hes looked like total ass against talent that is mostly a level or two below him is extremely concerning.
