Offensive Line struggles

Them stunting is to generate pressure. Bryce holding on to the ball for something to open up downfield allows those stunts to develop and might be a viable strategy to be used against him if his college game translates to the pros

It would be fair criticism if that’s what actually happened. Those stunts happened so quickly the receivers didn’t even break yet and when they did, Bryce delivered but got hit.

Hopefully that clarifies what I meant a little better than I originally worded. Did not intend to imply that Bryce holding on to the ball was why pressure were happening. It was only to point out that because he'll let things develop that defenses will be able to take those opportunities on obvious passing downs.

And I would be OK with that,  he will have to check down more than he wants to

Didn’t we also forego a practice this week due to weather while the jets practiced indoors? These guys are a week a head already given the hall of fame game. They’re on their best behavior with hard knocks sniffing around. We came out unprepared against a hyped up hungry team. This should be a teaching moment and it’s on the coaching staff to get prepped for next week.

Damn I forgot we have to relive this embarrassment on the next episode of Hard Knocks

I put this largely on Chubba, he seemed unable to do anything on the ground to back off the pass rush, and they just started t-ing off on the qbs… I feel us not having a bruiser back will be felt

Don't know how you can blame Chuba, the O-line got zero push. Kevin Patra got everything right:

"The struggles of the offensive line undercut Young's debut. Despite playing four starters, Carolina got no push in the run game, and the QB was regularly pressured. The right guard spot is a clear issue, at least until Austin Corbett returns from the physically unable to perform list. The Panthers rotated the RG position during Young's three drives, with Michael Jordan giving up the sack."

With what we saw ,, what the coaches saw  Saturday ,,   Bryce Young's  snap count probably will be cut in half .  Can't afford for him to be hurt in preseason.  We all realize our # 1 running back was not playing, as well as low snap counts for many starters.   Matt Corral will be given much more time to try to impress coaches because of the O Line.  And he did not look good at all.

Not so sure. Since they cut the fourth game, Preseason Two tends to be the "dress rehearsal" game where the starters play the most snaps.

Depends on whether we follow that script, I suppose.

I don't think the starting OL all of a sudden went to poo.  I think they didn't put in much effort. I hope this is a wakeup for them. The backups that played most of the game would never see the field in any non disaster situation.

    • CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Carolina Panthers coach Dave Canales said Friday that starters will play in the first two preseason games, stopping just short of admitting he made a mistake last season holding them out. The plan includes playing quarterback Bryce Young, who got off to a historically bad start to the 2024 regular season that got him benched after opening 0-2. Carolina opens their preseason schedule Friday at home against Cleveland, followed by an August 15 road game at Houston and August 21 home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.   Canales said he will evaluate after the first two games whether starters will play in the third game. "Kind of going through it last year, we had a mix of veteran players, but [this is] predominantly a pretty young team,'' said Canales, who has at least six new starters to the defense that was the worst in the league a year ago. "I just can't pass up the opportunities. The reps in games are valuable. "[But] it goes to the night before, when guys know they're going to go out there, they've got to make a decision to play football. So it starts the night before with the prep. You start thinking about your plan, taking care of your body, making sure you get your rest.''   https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/45880676/panthers-starters-play-first-2-preseason-games-says-coach
    • You call the Cowboys purely for information, but we don't have the assets to pull off any realistic trade. Also, even if they would consider any trade, it's more likely they want to do it with an AFC team.
