Hey guys, it's 2011 not 2015.

Im just expecting what Frank was preaching. He used words like "contend" in press conference. He said this is not a rebuild. Im just expecting a better team than last season.

What's wrong with that?

Making the playoffs is very much realistic this season. There isn't some juggernaut in this division. Even people in the Nat'l media are picking us to win this division. Why are expectations so low for you?

Meh. That’s just coaching talk.

we are 100% a rebuild.  Saying we aren’t is just making up a new definition.

NFL rookie QBs are NFL rookie QBs.  Lot of history to go off of.  Winning is hard.  Even for the good ones.  And we don’t have the roster that proven to be needed to make up the difference to get them over those learning curves.

This is about developing Young into a good QB.  And maybe the division is such utter trash a bad team gets in.  But that still wouldn’t make us good or playoff caliber.

These guys making young into an all pro this year are in for a surprise

Why do people even watch the games anymore.

The Rebuild continues!

Exciting times to watch us struggle. But at least we have our draft picks for the next few years to help us rebuild. Oh we don't have those picks so the rebuild will take much longer than expected.

2026 will be our year!

@CRA I expected better from you. You let me down with this one my man.

I mean, it is a rebuild.  Nothing wrong with that.  Excited about this one. It just sucks we wasted years with Rhule having us in no man’s land.

Maybe they can get it off the ground and rolling quick.  But I’m going to be patient with it.

I expect to miss them this year contend next year and def in year 3

I expect us to be really close if we don't make it. If Young can give us a Bridgewater level season this year, which he should exceed, we are a playoff team. Lets not overreact to one preseason game. Our roster is better across the board this year in almost every position group and we were one game from the playoffs. The only spot where its debatable is WR but we have the age of debate of is it better to have a true 1 and then some 3s and 4s or is it better to have 2 2's, a 3 and a 4? Some would argue having Chark and Theilen is better than having Moore. But we added a pass catching back and a pass catching tight end that we were missing so maybe that evens out.

Prior to that Bridgewater caliber performance….he played in 44 games, made a pro bowl, made the postseason, played with a GOAT, etc.

I don’t think that’s fair to Bryce to think at a minimum he should be Teddy out of the gate.

I'm not discounting the possibility of making the playoffs this season, but using that as a standard or expectation in the first year of a coach--really a team, is unfair in my opinion.

Yeah but remember the threshold for making the playoffs is lower now. More teams are in.

Teddy never deserves a pro bowl, honestly. How many 15 passing touchdown seasons has he had? I am asking for 15-20 TDs. Not a world beater.

Teddy put up those numbers with Rhule as his coach never practicing red zone offense and a terrible OL. It’s not unreasonable to expect similar from Young. 69% (which seems high) 3800 yards 15 TDs and 11 INTs is what he put up. If Young does that it’s not some crazy record breaking rookie season.

Sorry but gonna have to strongly disagree here. We’re coming off a 7 win season not a 2 win season, and our 2 biggest weaknesses we’re coaching and QB both of which we upgraded significantly. In this division I think anything short of a playoff appearance is a disappointment.

And it is an odd year season.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
