Is Clemson this bad??  Duke this good or something in the middle?

I think Duke is pretty good.  9 wins last year and return a lot.

I think Clemson just lacks a working pass game.  I  think they got the rest to be really good.  Which has plagued them the last 2 years.   They got to get rid of this short screen WR game

Clemson is on the road in week 1 against a Duke team that went 9-4 last year returning the vast majority of it's starters alongside a very disciplined and well coached defense under Elko. Clemson also has a new OC and inexperienced QB at the helm. I honestly don't know what a lot of people expected.  I mean we're basically doing everything an underdog shouldn't do to win and are still only down by 1. Just don't know how the team'll hold up in the 2nd half once Clemson adjusts, this team doesn't got the blue chip prospects that Clemson does. But I don't know how much of this is necessarily an indictment on Clemson. With that being said their QB has looked very uninspiring so far and those DJU memories are probably still lingering among their fans.

I don’t think Duke is as bad as people think they are and I certainly think Clemson is overrated. Klubnik only played significant snaps in two games.

He beat up on a bad UNC defense and got beat up on by a good Tennessee team.

This situation could play out very similar to the way the DJ Uiagalelei situation played out. Uiagalelei looked good filling in for Trevor Lawrence but as teams started to get more film on him we found out that he wasn’t nearly as good as we thought he was.

    • And that makes you right.
    • Mel Kiper said he would retire if Jimmy Clausen wasn't a successful NFL starter too. Just because the experts make a claim doesnt mean it's true either.  Bryce may be a serviceable QB for someone. Serviceable QBs don't bring you a perennial winner or lead you to the playoffs over and over. Serviceable QBs also dont get 50m plus per year deals which is what a Bryce extension would look like.  The stats show he hasn't been even a serviceable QB in the 3 years he's been here. The eye test shows he hasn't put together 2 franchise QB salary games back to back in 3 years.  Complain all you want about people being negative, but people pointing out that Bryce is held to a different standard than anyone else on the team isn't complaining. It's stating the obvious.
    • We have big bodied WRs and 3 TEs who all have potential and each bring something different to the table. I never saw the need to go out there and try and find a new starting TE.  While it's nice to have a guy like McBride, Bowers, etc, I think a team's better use of the cap is by having TEs on rookie contracts or cheap vets, not having to pay elite TE money.
