Anyone see Burns sitting out?

Since I’m still not allowed to create my own topic, this thread seems applicable. This board gets harder and harder to read every day. I don’t understand why half of you are here. Just jump ship already and find a new team if all you can bring to the table is crying about our team. I get things have been iffy the last few years Rhule times were hard times. Stop hating on our players and our team. I’m a die hard panthers fan who lives in Philly, if anyone knows a thing or 2 about baseball a guy here named Trea Turner had an awful year and the fans decided to have his back and give him a standing ovation. (if Philadelphians can do it anyone can). Since then he has been playing at an elite level. Maybe if once in a while we stopped criticizing the team we are all supposed to love and just cheer and root for them it could be beneficial. If you give up just give up and take the negativity to a Saints or Falcons board because I’m tired of everyone acting like the Panthers are their least favorite team instead of their favorite.

The players give the fans something to cheer about not vice versa. The fans spend hard earned money (some folks spend more than they can afford) to support the team because it’s the only escape they have and the only thing they have look forward to in some situations. Kids latch on and make heroes out of the players and idolize to be like them one day. The players make a lot of money to play a game, it’s their job to earn the support of the fanbase.

“Let’s support our guys even though they suck year after year and maybe one day we won’t suck.” Sounds like something that would come out of a Cardinals or Chargers message board.

I mean dude, it is a fan message board for debating. We can still be fans and love our team while not agreeing with every single thing the team does. Its okay to debate and chat as that's what the board is for. I admit there are a few angry smart mouthed douche canoes on here but they mostly hang in the tinderbox and every now and then crawl out of that place where we can smell their presence but they usually go back with the rest of their sludge after telling us what horrible people we are for not sharing their same opinions. Other than that there are a lot of people who debate pretty decently and disagree fairly cordial.

its probably a burner account from someone who was banned recently.  He is trashing the board and its posters for its "negativity" so that tells me all i need to know

and the fact that he wanted to start yet another thread is telling as well

I have been on here a while. Only account and I lurked for years before I created an account. It only lets me make a topic in the NFL forum section. Assuming because I need to advance my level more first since I do not post often.

How do people call themselves Panthers fans, but when your best defensive player is ready to get paid you turn on him and try to devalue his talent.

Even no pass rush all preseason can convince people how important Burns is to this defense.

None of this makes any sense.

It wouldn’t make sense to a 12 year old.   Tell us again how San Antonio is on the Mexican border

San Antonio is indeed "near" the San Antonio border. 150 miles to be exact.

Not that far away if you ask me. But hey if that's funny so be it.

There is literally nothing in San Antonio. You're on the mexican border.

You've been here long enough. You should know who to avoid, and the ones you want to converse with. Just ignore the noise. Or think of it as comic relief. Cuz sometimes it really can get to you if you let it. Some folks use the ignore button, but I enjoy watching some of these ppl have breakdowns. Does that make me a bad person? We'll let future generations make that determination.

Wouldn’t he have sat out of training camp? I know he wants to be here and he made it a point to show up at camp bc he said he wanted to be a leader. I would be shocked if he sits out a game.

I'm not so sure he can sit out. He's still on his rookie deal so he hasn't really banked that much money. Can he afford to pass up all those game checks. Plus, he can't hold out past week 7 or he loses a whole year of eligibility, and we'd still own his rights. That's a big gamble. I mean, go ask Bell if sitting out a year was worth it?

He has a majorly tough decision to make that's for sure.

Nobody over values their players than Panthers fans. It’s the realists in the crowd that bring everyone back down to earth.

The teams social media is partly to blame, building up every single player that comes through the door whether they are worth a damn or not.

I don’t think you understand what fandom means.

I don't think everyone who is afraid to pay what will probably be highest or right under the highest salary for his position in the league is hating on him. Some definitely but not everyone. Some I think are just worried and cautiously concerned. He is a very good player. No he isn't Julius Peppers and I think us having him spoiled us and at the same time ruined us for all future players. Julius was a once in a generationally gifted athlete and though Burns is very good we can't expect him or all future guys to live up to Peppers.

Put me in the category or realizing we do have to pay him but hoping we get top production out of him and I believe he does have a great chance of giving that to us in this new defense that more fits his skillset.

    • Here is how Morgan is strategic-He re-signs Scott because he was not going S in round 1--he had the chance, and he did not.  He saw the top of the draft at T and knew none of them would be ready to start day 1, so he signs a veteran to a one-year deal, giving his tackle selection a chance to learn and prepare for what might be LT or RT.  Those two moves suggested, perhaps ironically because they contradict each other, what he was going to do, based on the talent pool.  He never brought in a Robinson replacement at DE/NT, and then moves up to draft one.   I almost wonder if the intent was to draft DT/DE all along at some point, maybe with a trade back, but then Freeling dropped to them.   Of course, we felt that they were looking WR, and wonder if the plan was to draft a WR in round 2 if you traded back in round 1.  However, when Freeling was there, the trade back fell apart.  Then we traded up for Hunter.  We could stick with XL and hope Metchie steps up, so we sat still in round three and took Brazell II, a 1000 yard speedster and perfect Z WR.  What a break. At that time, CB and Center were our biggest needs, and with several possible centers on the board and a good fit for our defense at CB, we grabbed Will Lee III.  Lee and Thornton have people in front of them, but I think Morgan knew we needed a guy who can play the outside and press--and probably step in as Jackson's replacement in 2027.    After making trades to get back into the fifth round, where we grabbed one of the best centers in the draft.  This is significant because we signed Fortner to a one-year deal; maybe Morgan saw what some of us saw--the center position is strong in this draft--on day 3, and day 3 players need a year, in most cases.  Moments later, a safety they had been talking to whose skill set matched what we are looking for in a FS.  As stated, Scott was signed,  but the fact that the Panthers were talking to Wheatley and not Theiemann means that they might have known they were not going FS early, but would need a developmental FS later--which explains why we signed Scott.  So if you pay attention to the one-year, vet deals, you can tell where we planned to sign later-round, developmental players.  What positions did we draft early that did not have 1-year veterans signed in front of them:  DL (Hunter) and WR (I don't count Metchie because I count starting-level players). I would not be surprised to learn later that the plan was DT and WR in rounds 1 and 2--then Freeling fell.  Notice that Freeling--from Mt Pleasant SC, did not come in for a visit.  Most of the other OT candidates had short arms or were certain to be gone. I don't think Freeling was in their plans.  I think a trade back and Hunter and maybe Boston was the vision.  I am guessing that CB was also high on their list.   So in this draft, we got
    • This is one area I think that is not getting enough exposure in the midst of all the optimism. I like Chuba a great deal from a personal standpoint but he has largely proven nothing on a consistent basis yet. He's had the one season of production but before that most people pegged us as moving on. And last year injuries or not he just did not have that juice. The rest of the guys are completely unproven. I don't see anyone among the group having a game or a handful of games worth of high level production the way Rico Dowdle did last year. And yeah he dropped off and yeah he got an attitude about our incompetent handling of the touches which was honestly justified on his part and he moved on but he did legitimately save our season. That's what it is going to take to seize control of the NFC South. We all know that we will not be passing all over defenses. It is what it is. So who amongst this RB group is capable of doing that? And if we are struggling to run the ball AND pass are we going to revert to making excuses for our coach and QB again? That is definitely getting old.
