Ah yes, the ever present "if it doesn't fit my narrative it must be fake" defense 😄

Quick Hint: We actually did get the number one guy on our board, no PR necessary.

Look dude, I get that you like to defend stupid takes, and I'm indulging you on that here, but there comes a point where you start to sound like you're believing your own bullsh-t. And that's when you actually start to look dumb.

FYI: You're past that point now.

lol.  your entire argument boils down to whatever Carolina is selling....is the truth.  Again, have at it.

32 teams have gone out there for decades and sold to there fanbase that everyone agrees and they landed exactly who they wanted.  Their entire board worked out perfectly.   Everyone agreed on it all too.  Perfection in motion lol.  Believe it.  I don't care.  I just don't.

I think NFL teams are often dysfunctional.  They lie to the public.  They lie to reporters.  They to everyone.  And they are mom and pop shops largely run by egocentric billionaires.

I didn't skip over that part.  You skipped to after the draft.  When they were then in sell our decision to the fanbase mode.  Which you keep acting like is the ultimate truth that everyone just has to believe.  But those sales jobs are always the same.  Doesn't matter the team.

Quick tip regarding sales jobs:

You're not doing a great job with yours 😄

No, but even if that was my thing, I'd probably take that over your position of "whatever I make up is true regardless of what anybody with actual knowledge says the facts are" 😆

I'm pretty sure Young was the top QB on most draft boards.  It's really not surprising he is the one we went with and I was originally in favor of Stroud.

Same.

Hell, for a time I was hoping the stuff we were hearing about how much the coaches and front office loved Young was just smoke because I prefer it's Stroud.

It wasn't, and here we are.

Ok, so in his third year….his 2nd and 3rd best adds are average starting lineman.   His best add is LB.

I mean, that sort of sums up the Panthers in an offensive league.

An “average” offensive line is far better than the turnstiles we had 3 years ago. We need to put the players around our quarterback.

Why does this matter? In either scenario we wouldn’t have a chance to really contend until year 3. Seems better to have the QB with one extra year under his belt than the skill players. QBs that make it usually make their big leaps after year 1

Because by waiting on the qb, we could have kept DJ AND drafted a skill player too. Pick up the qb in '24 and we are in pretty good shape.

I swear this conversation happens every year.  I'm not saying it's not the case, but there is a lot of football left and who knows who returns and who doesn't .  The class with Lance, Fields, Mac, Mond, and Lawrence doesn't look nearly as strong as anticipated and this past class was suppose to be the next big one but now it's next year's class.  This narrative will always happen to get people excited about college football and interested in the draft.

Among the talking heads, sure it happens every year.  I've been in this boat for only two seasons prior.  I was willing to give Teddy a shot was lukewarm about Darnold.  When we brought in Sam is when I started sniffing around drafting a QB.

    • It's amazing how much yall can say the same things over and over and not annoy yourselves with it.
    • If you only look at measurables, Mingo and Legette might seem similar.  But when you actually look at them and watch them play, they aren't close to the same.   And this is coming from someone who is skeptical about Legette, although ultimately I believe he will work out.  I've just always disagreed with the comparisons to Mingo.   Mingo tests better than he plays/runs, whereas Legette plays/runs as well as he tests.
    • As bad as things were with the Panthers last year, we still had 4 other games outside of the 2 we won that we came very close to winning.  Could throw the Falcons game in there too, it was tied going into the 4th. I'm not really sure what to expect this year.  I don't think we'll make the playoffs.  However, we play in a very weak division where no team has a standout QB.  On paper, our OL should be good, and could be great if Ikem improves.  That alone could help mask a lot of problems on offense.  Should allow us to run the ball better.  Even if Bryce doesn't improve, the OL should at the very least give him more time to make the easy throws underneath and let a guy like Legette work his magic after the catch. And I think this defense in a 2nd year with Evero should, at the very least, be in the top 16.  I'm expecting our run defense to be as good as it has been in years. I think this team could push for 7-8 wins.  But it could also finish with 2 wins again.  That is just how the league works.  Jets offense was miserable last year, and yet they still won 7 games.   We won't really get a good feel of it until after the preseason, and even then, who knows.
