Game 1

Couldn't watch the Hawks game, but did see the highlights.

1.) Miller is going to be a perennial All-Star. The Paul George comparisons scoring-wise are looking spot-on. He needs to continue an NBA strength and conditioning regiment and continue growing on the defensive end, but my goodness, we got a great player.

2.) The acquisitions from OKC were the perfect shot in the arm this team needed. They bring energy and Tre Mann has tons of potential. Excited that he was part of the trade, I think he's going to be a long-term starter for us.

3.) From a Tennessee homer perspective, I like the acquisition of Grant Williams. He brings energy and hard-nosed play.

I don’t know if there is a single player in the NBA that is as up and down as PJ. You never know what you’re going to get with him.

honestly... what other player puts up multiple 40+ point games AND multiple 0 point games? never disliked him but man it's been frustrating watching his disappearing act year in and year out.

i wonder what this team would look like iwth melo and mark

Have they given a timetable for their returns? I was at the game against Memphis and Melo was doing an individual workout before the game and he seemed to be moving around just fine. I thought for sure he would return after the all star break. And what kind of back bruise keeps someone out 3 months?

I’m sure Clifford doesn’t want to rush Melo or MW back before they’re truly ready. The flow and improved team chemistry since the trade deadline gives us the luxury to work the new guys in while allowing both to focus on getting healthy for this season and beyond.

So what are the odds they keep Clifford going into next season? I mean, he basically voiced his opinion a couple weeks ago, and said this team has no talent, so they gave him talent, he seems more at ease, he looks to be enjoying coaching now, these new additions have gelled with the team, they’re playing hard, they’re playing defense, importantly, they’re playing as a team. So, given a small four-game sample size, do you think they could win going into the future without a coaching change?

On the 4-game winning streak since the trades:

“Earlier in the season we would have gave up and let them run away with it," Bridges said. "But you know, we got veteran guys in our locker room now — winning players — and we got it done.”

“We didn’t let our offense dictate our defense. We got key stops,” Bridges said about the Hornets keeping the Jazz without a field goal the last 3:33 of the game.

Charlotte snapped a 16-game losing streak in Utah. The last win for the Hornets over the Jazz on the road was a 104-89 victory on March 1, 2006.

“That’s big for this team." Grant Williams said. "Everybody just plays the right style of basketball. Everybody here, you can tell, wants to win. We have that mentality of doing all that it takes.”

“In these four games that Grant’s been on the floor, we’ve been really good,” Clifford said. “He creates a lot of offense for his teammates with his shooting … and then he’s like the middle linebacker back there and organizes your defense. He also plays with great physicality.”

I really like the new additions and the way they fit this roster long-term.  Add in the two future first-round picks and I think the Hornets have a bright future.

(Tre Mann, Micic, and Grant Williams really have me hyped!)

1.) Lamelo Ball / Micic

2.) Tre Mann / Seth Curry

3.) Brandon Miller / Cody Martin

4.) Miles Bridges / Grant Williams / Bertans

5.) Mark Williams / Nick Richards

Hornets did what they needed to do before and at the trade deadline - good moves for the team moving forward.

I know the season is far from over, but I do want to see how the new ownership directs the new GM/President of Basketball operations now that Kupchak has stepped down.

I actually have some excitement for the Hornets now.....go figure!

    • I mean, in theory Bryce could get over the hump. That aside, you have to know that due to the situation we are going to give him another year. From some perspectives, it just makes sense. I'm not saying that I agree or disagree with it, but it's not like the draft is chock full of franchise QBs. I'm thinking that only one, the consensus top pick, is destined to be the only one in this draft (and some people don't believe in him). All we can do is sure up the room with an FA (Pickett) and take a swing or two and hope (maybe the dawg Pavia). 2027 should bring better options if it comes to that.
    • Let's be honest here. We have one WR on this team that would be in the top 3 of ANY other team. And he was a rookie last year. I love Coker but he is an often injured UDFA. He wouldn't have even gotten a chance on other teams. The rookie injury would have bounced him around the league for the next 5 years until he stopped trying to make a roster. It's a numbers game for most teams and he would have (at best) been on some team's practice squad. But Carolina has been so devoid of talent at the position, that we didn't have much of a choice. Bryce leaves a lot of questions but to say he hasn't elevated anyone isn't true. No WR has left Carolina since he's started and did better on another team. Not one. And there are several to choose from. Coincidence? Maybe. Probably not.
