I’m convinced that with above average WRs Young can be VERY good

In person yesterday, he was putting passes in tight windows.

He was failed miserably by drops

this guy would be COOKING right now with DJ and CMC

so where am I going with all this, we need to surround him with above average talent

Hurst is TRASH

Mingo is a #3 at best but he can develop

Thielen has been amazing but his role is a #2

Chark isn’t special

TMJ should be Canadian league

RBs are meh at best

remedy?

assets, Burns is an asset and we can trade him for draft capital to help this team build around Young

Ship sailed. Even if we trade burns this front office isn't capable of bringing talent like dj and cmc back in the door.

That would be the Bear's FO. The deal wasn't happening without DJ.

From what I understood the Bears were open to Brown, Burns or DJ. DJ was the prize but they would have taken Brown or Burns if the other assets going to them were right.

Brown and Burns would’ve been worth more in terms of draft value, but if the Bears wanted the same draft pick compensation for all then it was the right trade numbers wise.

Everything I’ve seen from Fitterer’s draft day trades leads me to believe that he cares a lot about “winning” on the value chart, so that probably played a big role in the decision.

Do you have any reports that say this?

Just Google “Bears would have accepted Burns or Brown instead of DJ Moore”. There’s tons of articles on it.

Fitt said Chicago wanted either of the 3, and he felt finding a replacement WR would be easier than a replacement for DE or DL.

He wasn’t technically wrong, they just missed on those replacements outside Theilen.

Personally, I don’t think we go after AT if DJ were still around. And DJ would be filling all the same roles as AT right now. He’d be the go to guy.

Long story short, we’d be crying about a lack of pass rush AND and lack of receiving talent outside of DJ if DJ were kept and Burns was delt.

Poles also talked about it himself. It didn’t need to be DJ.

This article mentions that it was easier to get DJ than Burns or Brown, because DJ was the only one not on a rookie deal, which I suppose does point back to it being our FO that ultimately made that call. Though it does sound like Poles thought DJ was the most realistic target, and it just happened to fill a need in a weak market.

We valued two defenders who need contracts more to help out our rookie QB than a stud young WR he could grow with.

Give him an above average OL first

I think it is more than this. Other than Brady, the line that played yesterday was the same that played last year. Last year this line was average to above average even to a point of them keeping Campen as one of the few coaches from the Rhule regime.  I think it is scheme versus talent.
I think the new scheme they’re running needs this year needs to change to more of a power running game similar to what they ran late last year and we’re very successful at it.

    • Some people have been beaten down so long they have no standards. Can't be reasoned with.
    • Getting better, might be fairly charitable. We finished 1-3 with the pressure on. That is for sure not trending up.  I don’t see a clear run of performances that prove he has taken it to another level. Not yet.  I would say he played really well in the WC game. And folded on that last series where we still had a chance. I think he threw one good ball. That last series is the kind of thing a player is supposed to learn from and not repeat. We have to see him do it before we can credit him for doing it.    I would also say he has not done enough of playing at his ceiling and what we should expect as the game in game out norm is still not established.  We gonna get MNF in SF or we gonna get the WC game? Seattle or Atlanta yardage record?   Besides that he has three years of horrendous play to start the season hanging over him. Are we going to get that again or will he be over that? We can’t know that. Mind you, that isn‘t two of three it is three of three he has yet to play well to start the year as a pro. Ofer.    So, many questions remain.    As far as weapons and help… said it before. Fix the OL so we can protect him.  It is time for a 1.1 pick in his 4th season, third year in the same offense, to elevate the players we have given him. You can’t keep up the level of investment dedicated to propping him up, you have to prop up the defense too and get some balance.
    • Yeah, just got back to the house from doing some actual work, hopefully they create some better chances in the second half. 3-1 looks tough for you
