Shouldn't They Try Some new WRs? 🤔

I wonder if Mingo would fetch a 7th. Our WR room is awful but at least Thielen is competent and Strachan has promise.

You seriously discussing trading a rookie wr in an offense where the receivers are all mostly being asked to run short stop routes or quick outs that are blanketed because we don't have deep concepts called for 80% of the game at least?

Not a defense of TMJ or Mingo, but you gotta wonder how exciting is it to come to work every day and suit up to run this hot garbage offense loaded with hospital routes because the defense is sitting on every damn throw. Either you run your routes as hard as you can to get open and potentially end your career getting lit up, or do you hope the madness ends at some point this season or offseason and Frank and this pathetic offense are gone. How do you take pride in your work running stuff you left behind in Jr high?

I agree. Theilen aside, now is the time to see what you have in guys who haven’t played thus far.

I’d bench/reduce Chark’s snaps first. He’s not here next year. No point.

Make Tremble TE1, and use Sullivan more.

Force the ball to TMJ for a couple games and sink or swim time. If he shows he can’t do it, move on for good.

All the bottom WR’s need snaps. See what we have.

Sanders shouldn’t see the field anymore. Blackshear/Cohen get all his touches.

It’s time for young guy evaluation…stop waisting PT on vets who aren’t performing.

The only plus side to being shitty is diving into the youth of the roster and seeing development/growth and periodic flashes.

That can be fun.

But so often you have stubborn coaches who trot out the same vets for the sake of it.

poo is lame and unbearable.

This is John Fox lame duck season status at least, but somehow this feels even worse because of the peak hype last off-season, contrasted with whatever the fug we see each Sunday.

Not with Fitt drafting we should not! Get a new GM first but so many other holes to fill all around it appears

Yeah even when Fitt gets fired what kind of replacement are the Teppers going to bring in to replace him?

Until things change dramatically it's best to just accept it would be more of the same. I don't like it but that's what this is and it needs to be added into all talk of the future until things change.

I warned people all off-season about our lack of talent at WR.

People kept talking about TMJ potential. The guy has shown nothing his entire career. Mingo is a unproven rookie.

The fact that Thielen is our best WR shows you just how bad we are at that position. I don't think Bryce is a superstar talent, but we have to get the guy something to work with on offense.

I like that Fitt tried to get Higgins and Adams at the trade deadline. At least they recognize we need a #1 WR. Also I'm thinking Tee Higgins will be out #1 priority in FA this off-season.

Higgins is essentially only an option if we trade Burns

Bengals aren't likely to let him hit FA, if he does, then sure, he's our top target.

But they're almost assuredly going to tag and trade him, and we don't have the draft picks to make that trade (no way in hell should we be trading any future 1st round picks at the moment).

Hence, only way we have a chance at him is if we try and trade Burns to them for Higgins and picks or trade Burns for picks and use one to trade for Higgins.

Also, if we're going the trade route, I think I more likely lean towards trying to go after Aiyuk (who the 49ers are likely to trade as they won't be able to keep him long term with all their other big contracts) over Higgins, as I feel like he has a little more wiggle/quickness to his game than Higgins, but I'd be happy with either if we could.

No, I’m asking if any team would give us a 7th for him. We took him 39th overall, does any team think he’s worth a 7th rounder. I’d bet my lunch money dude has little to no trade value.

Next offseason is all about Bryce .. Spend for weapons and Oline help.. Draft defense…

But but tepper said we didn't need to spend money on weapons because Bryce is a point guard! Save some money here, save some money there! The way he distributes the ball because you know, he's a point guard!

I'm getting sick and tired of seeing Mingo Chark and TMJ underperform. Why not give ISM and some other some chances? They're 1-8 what would they have to lose? Do they just not care?

Is there just no point given Bryce /o line can't do well enough to get the ball to them?

We do not have any receivers on the roster with breakaway speed. The defenders can keep up with all of our guys without breaking a sweat. If KC cut Sky Moore, we should pick him up since they have Rice now to replace him.

I haven’t seen much written about Michael Strachan, but he’s a fascinating story.  From the Bahamas, parents sent him to the States to play HS ball in Virginia.  Then played college ball at Charleston (WV) where he balled out in football and track.  Won the conference champ in 200m and 400m.

He measured 6’5.5 at the combine and ran a 4.5.  Definitely a “go up and get it” guy.  Clearly Bryce had some confidence in him on that 45 yard go route.

Could be someone to hopefully provide a spark to this offense.

Strachan had a big 45 yard gain and one other target and I don't think he saw the field after that much.

He drew a PI call on his other target. Led the team in receiving yards. Give the kid a start Sunday.  Literally can't be worse.

    • I guess I should have stipulated outside the sacred cow.   I complained from year one that Bryce should compete for and win the starting job on his own merit but no he was just handed it. I have been right there with everyone that wants competition.  But I don’t really have a huge problem with it for this season the way it has gone because where are the viable people we don’t have to trade for? I actually am okay with tiny hands Pickett because he is so close to Bryce arm strength wise and to be honest, skill wise. Probably. And it is only a one year deal.  That also takes I to account that the QB class is looking stacked next year and if Young fails miserably then we get either a reset or a real competition and there will be more guys that I would like looking at in the FA QB class next year as well.    I sort of accept where we are this year and look at it as a treading water year. I just want to get to next year with some clarity. More than anything. And they did empty out the room. Again, who was really there for us?  And I know it would not be a true competition at this point anyway. They are giving him the year, like it or not.    Also I don’t give a poo about winning games IF he sucks and or goes down after sucking because draft position and that stacked QB class.  And I want out from under him So Bad.     So I guess it is several factors that lessen my anxiety over his backup this particular season.    I am not trying to convince anyone, but you asked.
    • What happened to King? Was he a no show?
    • think these smaller Qb's are going to have a much harder time convincing an NFL team to draft them. not saying a smaller Qb under 6 feet tall will not make an NFL roster .it will most likely be a UDFA contract more or less prove it deal.NFL teams have been burnt time & time again investing in these small NFL Qbs & i think  teams are now finally starting to realize that investing in these smaller Qb's under 6 feet tall is simply a bad idea  ...just saying
