From a friend of our now former QB coach

I think most people are arguing the Tepper's were overly involved and held a level of sway over the staff.  Not that they directly made the pick and no one else felt BY was worthy of the pick. They certainly showed their preference in no uncertain terms at Young's pro day.

Pretty sure nobody believes that it was Tepper versus everybody.

The idea that coaches preferred Stroud while scouts preferred Young and Tepper wound up tipping the balance isn't exactly farfetched though.

But those people were not quick to post that tweet since it doesn’t fit their agenda even though they are quick to post anything that does.

That's kind of the point.

When you have a sh-tty organization, good players with better options will do exactly that.

Now, you can rage and lecture players about being spoiled and try to convince them that they should just suck it up and come work here rather than somewhere better because reasons, or you can actually try to make the organization better so that good players and coaches will want to come here.

I'll give you three guesses which of those options tends to be more effective...

I’m not raging  I’m not lecturing

its not worth it to me

The whole argument about ‘shitty organizations’ is also flawed but being the historian, you know this already as   Franchises can turn one way or the other very quickly

Again, David Tepper is in control here.  His 2.2 billion dollar purchase price  earned him that right

what I think of him, what you think of him or what you think he should do is of no consequence to this situation  or to him

then again, you could send your recommendations directly to him.  Im  sure he would appreciate them

Maybe, but if they felt like they couldn’t win with Bryce they’d have made a bigger objection and that’s something we know they did not do at that level.

So we lowly fans should all just sit back and accept that our billionaire owner runs a sh-tty team and be happy that we're getting to watch football regardless of whether it's good or not?

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I'll decline.

I don't think anybody here is of the mind that conversing on a message board is going to change anything, but it's what fans do in a sport talk forum.

Oh don't get me wrong I agree the front office and staff are rife with incompetence and buffoonery.

But at the same time we know from the mouth of David Tepper himself that he spoke to Bryce personally months before the draft and wanted him in process blue. At some point as an employee you reach an impasse where you see your boss who pays you wants a certain prospect more and you relent.

So you are going against what Kunkel and Jonathan Jones said, which is everyone in the building wanted Young.

There is so much to complain about regarding Tepper, but can you at least drop this BS narrative that you’ve been pushing over and over again. I

I dunno, I watched and really didn't get anything out of it but more confusion.  It was said that you don't make a trade like they did without conviction for a player.  It was then said that the Panthers believed they were going to get pick number two and at that pick they would be getting CJ.  Are they admitting that the group had conviction on CJ but ended up taking Bryce as a big F.U. to the Texans?

It's far from a unanimous take, and that includes among trusted sources. You can also go back to the discussion that was had around draft time and see differences as well.

And if we're being both on a stand realistic, the notion that some wanted Stroud while others wanted young is a whole lot easier to believe then this idea that there was unanimous consensus Young was the best choice.

That kind of thing is pretty rare in football organizations.

Everyone? No one had another opinion or thought? No one? Since it’s not turning out, and the alternative appears to be, I’d think that’s very concerning isn’t it?

Thats bullshit or people knew they didn’t have a choice anyways. I find it very difficult to believe the entire building unanimously came to the conclusion Tepper did.

    • lol well that kinda ended up working out in the end, even though I still don't have my jersey yet. Was supposed to ship by tomorrow this time, but just got another email saying it was delayed another 3 weeks and because it's been delayed so long, I had to tell them to keep the order or cancel it, but gave me a 25% off my next order as an apology. Well, my original fear came true and they are now selling the FUSE version (but still not the Blue unfortunately) before the one I ordered was ever shipped. But that's awesome, because I was able to use that coupon to order the FUSE instead and then cancelled the original order.  So I got the jersey I wanted for only $6.30 more than the crappier version costs, and it also says it will be shipped immediately and get here early next week, or 2 weeks before the other was now supposed to be shipped out.
    • I've watched this and think we are well underway.  Believe it or not, Bryce is a big part of this.  The way he bounced back with such grace.  And we've got a lot of young players who want to make their mark, Dave is giving them an opportunity.  I loved our draft.  I like the number of guys we brought in, and they will help build the culture we want under Dave.  We're getting closer, and I think we'll see more wins this year than most of the board. The right culture breeds winning, and winning builds the right culture.  Imho, it's coming.
    • As others have said it's both. One creates the other. But it also takes time sometimes years. And there have been teams lately with new car smell coaching staffs that looked like they were putting it together quickly but things came crashing back down to Earth. Sustainability is the key. For that to happen the meddling of our owners has to stop and they cannot be tempted to return to their ways over any bump in the road either.
