From the Russini article...

Some in the Panthers organization, per a league source, have been texting Johnson about how complicated it has been to work in Carolina this season. Johnson is expected to be the top coaching candidate in 2024.

Yikes! 😬

Not exactly a good sales job.

Interesting passage...

As it was described by sources, even though Reich's tenure resulted in a 1-10 record, there was no sense of relief in the building when he was fired. The entire building was relieved when Tepper fired Rhule after Week 5 of the 2022 season.

Why?  I can sum it up in one word: scapegoat.

From Kaye:

Seems like a genuinely nice guy(like the other recently fired Frank).

Mr. Smith, stay the fug away from this shitshow.

I am firmly of the belief that we need a Payton or Harbaugh like guy that is going to put Tepper in his place. It's the only hope we have of getting a little better.

I think it is because Rhule was an asshole and everyone hated working for  him. Everyone liked Frank the person. It is a huge stretch to call a HC going 1-10 a scapegoat.

Name this coach.

It's a two way road.  People can't say give the rookie time because all rookies struggle, but then say the coach of said rookie is supposed to have a decent record.  That makes no sense.

One league source described Carolina's vacancy as a "leverage job," meaning candidates will take the interview as leverage for a more attractive job. Tepper's deep pockets could be used to get many candidates raises at their current jobs or increased offers at their new ones.

So not only did he totally screw up our franchise, but he's probably pissing every other team/owner in the league off by basically writing coaches blank checks just to come here.

We can just agree to disagree. I think Frank did an awful job, he was hellbent on not deviating from his scheme. He didn’t care to make adjustments to fit the players, forcing the classic square pegs in the round hole. He did nothing to play to the supposed strengths of Bryce or the o-line, he sat good players etc.

Was it hard to win with Bryce? Sure, but it was also an awful coaching job, I don’t know how it can be viewed otherwise to be honest.

It's fair to point out that what he did but giving Matt Rhule the ridiculous contract he was given, Tepper has now also done for assistant coaches by being willing to "open the checkbook" in hiring Reich's staff.

The other NFL owners that wanted him "in the club" might now be having some second thoughts about it 😕

Agreed on the disagreement.  I don't know how one gets handed a heaping serving of chopped liver and is expected to make filet mignon out of it.  Frank had his faults, but he also wasn't a miracle worker either.

Exactly, probably shouldn't let anyone in the club that can outbid basically any and all of them. They must get something out of it though since they let the Walmart people in recently as well

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
    • I don’t watch college football anymore (used to be Stanford STH but meh), but my wife is Hawaiian and her favorite color is purple, so I guess I knew Tet was my new favorite player to root for when he came out in a purple suit and lei and threw up the Shaka.
