Bryce Young is historically bad, and he's regressing

His also in a league where historically QBs his size do not succeed.
He would be an exception and join a very, very short list, no pun intended, of successful short NFL QBs.
Doesn’t matter about forgetting to play football. Football in the NFL is way different than college. If it was the same we would have a lot more success.

There haven't been many of them to enter the league so it's hard to compare.  I think smaller QBs will become more of a trend in the NFL though based on the way HS and college football is currently played.  He is certainly an outlier though.

And honestly, the flashes are graded on a curve. Not the type of #1 overall or 1st round type prosect flashes you're normally looking for, simply flashes of NFL competence like you'd be looking for out of a late round pick trying to earn a roster spot.

This is the key right here. A play that flashes is usually something highlight worthy, makes people go wow that was amazing. Seeing a few glimpses of average NFL QB play in a sea of mediocrity does not equate to “flashes”.

I've been completely consistent.  He has struggled.  Mightily.  There are lots of reasons for the struggles (lots his, lots not).

I'm not sticking my head in the sand anywhere by saying he can still get better.  He is 22 years old.  He didn't just forget to play football overnight.

Your second paragraph is what conversations on here should be.  A discussion.   That's why people are here,I assume.

Did you give Clausen and Darnold this much room for improvement?

Is it crazy to think the best qb in the south has been sitting on our bench all season??

I've been saying that since the Seattle game...at least the best QB on this team.  Andy carried the team that game.  The defense looked uncharacteristically bad, running game struggled and the OL--not only couldn't protect, but had an absurd amount of pre-snap penalties due to Seattle's crowd noise.

While it's easy to do, let's not compare Stroud to Young's rookie season.  A quick comparison:

Head Coach:  Demeco Ryans vs. Frank Reich/Chris Tabor

OC: Bobby Slowick versus Thomas Brown

LT:  Laremy Tunsil versus Icky Ekwonu

Skill Positions:  ....  I don't have time to type all of that....

You can't help where you're drafted.  We all thought (and a lot of the media) that Young was drafted into a great situation where he could find success.  Whoops, missed that one, EVERYBODY (including me).

I get that people like to look and see how green the grass is, if Bryce had been drafted to Houston, he'd probably be playing similarly to the way Stroud has.  Stroud would look a lot like Bryce due to the constant hits, lack of weapons, poor play calling and play design.  It doesn't matter who wears the jersey, the results will be the same.

That being said, since Tepper is calling all the shots, he needs to protect his investment and pull Bryce.  Let Dalton play.  Bryce is only picking up bad habits and extra shots without the improvement.  Time to invest in the future and let the Red Rifle play.

He's bad and regressing, yes. Historically bad? Not sure I'd go that far.

Statistically speaking, it's historic in a few ways.  He currently has the second lowest YPA in modern history for a starting QB (min 10 games).

Only the 3rd player this century to throw 36+ passes in a game and complete 13 or below.
