Panthers should rebuild? (espn article)

Thanks for posting the insider article man. I apreciate it. I dont see why they think we should rebuild. In my opinion we have been rebuilding the past three years and now we are just letting our young players grow so we can win. I think this year our young players from last years draft will be playing more and putting up some good numbers. I am really anticipating Everette Brown I think him and Charles Johnson will have a good year with the help of our depth at DT. I also think Matt Moore will help our offense and put us where we belong, at the top of the NFC south. Rebuild my ass screw espn. As long as we dont have Delhomme starting then we dont need to rebuild.

Speaking of revisionist history, a lot of you guys were saying the same things last year. Blow this team up. Only way we'll get to .500 is if teams like the Vikings and Saints take it easy on us. Etc. etc.

It wasn't unreasonable when we were 4-7 and we were led to believe that Jake "I look like I'm shaving points" Delhomme was really the best quarterback option on the team.

ESPN is so full of poo. We are one of the most talented teams in the league. They can suck it.

Deangelo Williams

Johnathan Stewart

Steve Smith

Jeff Otah

Jordan Gross

Kalil

Wharton

Peppers

Beason

Davis

Marshall

Gamble

We've got 3 talented guys at TE. 2 of which have alot of receiving potential, but we don't really use them. Though that may change with Moore.

Not including the talented depth we have in the secondary with Munnerlyn, Wilson, and potential stars in Martin and Godfrey. We've got 2 DE's who are waiting to break out in Brown and Johnson. DT which was a weakness last year will now be stacked with talented role players at least with potential starters in Leonard and Tyler.

Hell we've been very fortunate to have Smith and Peppers(and now Beason, and Williams, and you could even say Kalil) on the same team. They are all stars and among the very best at the position, not many teams can say that.

We've got one hell of an offensive line coach who has turned Bernadau and Schwartz into quality players, and road graders.

Our LB core is ridiculous with monsters in Beason and Davis. We've got a quality vet in Diggs and Dan Conner waiting in the wings, and James Anderson finally looked like a football player last year. Landon Johnson sucks I concede that.

We just need WR help. I argue that we already have the QB, just get Smitty some help.

And it might not take a big time WR, we saw how good they can be with Moore at the helm, it was a different team.

We should rebuild at QB, WR - that's it.

ESPN really has no clue who we are and what we do, so you can't blame them for being ignorant about what we need.

They think Peppers is the only talented player we have and losing him will bring us to our knees, I think not. Losing Peppers may actually open the door for a guy like Charles Johnson to prove that he can be a double-digit sack guy. In a reserve role, he had 6 sacks in 2008 and 4 in 2009. If this guy was a full-time starter it's easy to imagine him getting into double-digits.

if we let Pep walk we really need to rebuild the DL. The playmakers have slowly been leaving the once great DL in Carolina. Sorry, but there is no proven playmaker on the line once Pep leaves....just a bunch of fans that think one can possibly do something they haven't yet.

I agree. Sign Moore, let Pep walk, sign Davis and pick up a top flight FA WR and take Shipley in Round 2.

We will be as dangerous as any team in the league.

Go Panthers

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
