For those who don't want to click the X link to see the article:

CAROLINA PANTERS: Panthers owner David Tepper already has fired head coach Frank Reich and some of his assistant coaches. Many now expect that general manager Scott Fitterer will be next, according to league sources.

Tepper has retained a search firm to help him guide his franchise for the future. Should he fire Fitterer, Tepper then would have a clean slate to offer a prospective head coach and GM, though Panthers assistant GM Dan Morgan also has support within the organization, according to sources.

Whoever takes over, this team does have issues it must overcome. Carolina traded its 2024 first-round draft pick -- which became the No. 1 overall selection -- to the Chicago Bears last year to be able to draft Bryce Young, who has endured a difficult rookie season.

The Panthers are missing other offensive playmakers and have a shaky offensive line that they need to restore and rebuild. Tepper is ready and willing to spend, but there are major holes and concerns to address.

Wording is a lil different from the OP. "retained a search firm?" So it's the same one from last year that got us Frank Reich?

void of draft picks isn't necessarily a "clean slate" for the next coach/gm duo. I don't trust that bald motherfuger to not have still have the final say in taking on whoever will be a yes man to forcing Bryce into the starting role just to stroke Teppers ego. No way he gives a new staff control over the QB situation

No. Probably why hes going to be GM.

Morgan couldn't get a word in at a presser or in the draft confidential videos over Rhule/Fitt/Tepper. Seems like a nice guy and probably smarter than those dudes but he doesn't seem to have any kinda alpha personality/room control that would have him swaying Teppers dumb ass in the right direction

Hiring a search firm to find a NFL HC lol, the clown continues to lead his circus

There have been many other NFL teams hire this same search firm to assist in finding their NFL HC. Doesn't mean they make all final decisions but they assist. What is it that you want exactly? Do you want Tepper just doing it himself again to fug that up for the third time in a row?

I am not sure what that means by "transition".  Is he sticking around no matter what?

Almost all pro personnel and college scounting departments stay in place during the first year.

The draft and FA start in a few months. There just isn't enough time to replace and restart the process of scouting, researching and building a profile of every single FA and Draft prospect.

After the draft and FA is when you traditionally see new people brought in to replace the old crew.

Dan may stick around for another few months to help the transition but unless he gets the GM job itself I have a hard time imagining he stays longer than that.

Tepper had the most experienced coaching staff in the NFL, and he overrode their decision at QB to select who he and his wife wanted. Is Tepper going to magically have an epiphany and realize he's the fug up? I doubt it.

its revisionist history to think Tepper was the only one that wanted Young, he was just the most important person but even the Texans would have taken him over Stroud at the time

Bc tepper doesn't want that. Im not sure why that isn't clear. As long as he's here is puny ass ego will dig this deeper. At least we will have #1 pick in 2025 but they may find a way to squander that

Other footnotes:

- Scott is likely gone

- Dan Morgan has internal support to replace Scott once he is fired.

Well, the first thing the FIRM needs to do is tell Tepper to get out of the cookie jar and let the professionals do what they do best.

You can bring in the best GM and the best coach to ever walk the face of the earth but if Tepper doesn't stay out of how this team is built it's not going to matter.

He comes from a Pittsburgh organization and should take note on how Art Rooney II lets football people do football things.  If he can't do that. For the love of God. SELL THE DAMN TEAM.

I am not too confident in this firm.  I take it that the firm is called Sportsology from what Florio quoted Joe Persons.  A quick review of this company shows most of these guys are English Soccer League executives who started this business 10 years ago.  They show they have worked for the 49ers and Eagles, but do not say to what extent or capacity that I can find.  I will believe the results when I see them https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/david-teppers-panthers-will-use-sportsology-for-both-g-m-coaching-search   group https://sportsologygroup.com/

    • Boy we agree on the dink and dunk. I don’t want to watch that kind of football.  I mean okay if you win with it, it could be tolerable but it feels claustrophobic, constrained, limited, boring.  But for some reason I love a smash mouth heavy run game that wins the LOS and gets the backs to the second level.
    • I am really sorry  that  happened to you they say to never meet your sports heroes i have friends who met  mickey mantle when they were young and he was a belligerent alcoholic at the time  ut broke their hearts  I had the opportunity to meet and spend  time with Cam Newton.     He was the polar opposite of Steve Smith and his public image.   Polite.  Honest when asked question.  You could tell the things that mattered to him and the things that  didnt. The disappointments in himself and the things that hurt him  those qualities make him quite a good interviewer too  i genuinely liked him   Im sure as young, rich, sports hero, he has not been a choir boy but there is goodness in him  the time i met him i took one of my friends with me from the west coast. She said she didn't like him and wasn’t enthusiastic about meeting him.  She left loving him   No one can say anything bad about ‘her Cam’ anymore
    • Agree about oline. They've tried their best to improve that area. But honestly, has it looked like the most expensive oline in the NFL to you? Not just with Bryce. With Dalton's one game where they almost got the old man killed.  Also YAC shouldn't always be hitting a guy in stride while he's running full speed. Pickens killed us after the catch and those weren't all hit-in-stride plays. I remember a play in Miami when a guy caught a 5 yards curl and took it like 30-40 yards to the house. We don't have that in Carolina. Horn might be the closest thing to that but he can't get significant PT for whatever reason. If Bryce keeps trusting his receivers to make plays, I think he'll become more consistent. Seemed like he only trusted TMac. And force feeding one receiver isn't sustainable. Defenses will start to blanket him and take him out of the game. And yeah, keep taking deep shots. I hate all that dink and dunk football. Hate it.
