Will Scott Fitterer go down as one of the worst GM’s in NFL history?

The Browns gave up speculative assets (draft picks) for a proven asset. The guaranteed contract was ridiculous but the amount given up in trade for a young franchise level QB wasn't insane. The risk was the criminal accusations which seem to have hurt his play on the field.

The Panthers did the opposite and gave up proven assets for a speculative prospect. Your point about the guaranteed is valid but the Panthers took on dead money to trade away those assets to make these trades. CMC and DJ Moore were the offense since 2018 and it completely fell apart without them. The value there was insane to give up.

Also, the Browns are still a good team.  The trade sucked, but it didn't ruin them.  They will be in the playoff race with Watson next year.

Panthers made the trade and ended up being so bad they earned the No. 1 Pick the following year, which now belongs to another team.  The Panthers trade (as of right now, unless Bryce turns is around) has done far more harm to us than the Browns trade has done to them.  And IMO it is more likely Watson turns it around than Young does.

Yes. The only question is whether Bryce becomes an above average starter. Right now that seems about as far fetched as me banging Jenna Jameson. Fitterer makes Hurney look like prime Al Davis.

If he becomes a starter at all

With three straight top 10 picks, we drafted a cornerback (a luxury pick) that can't stay healthy, a left tackle that can't pass block (and that everyone knew couldn't pass block), and a noodle-armed midget QB.

And that's just the first round! The rest are worse

Tell us how you really feel....

All true by the way.

Agreed since he was already a pro bowl level QB. If Bryce doesn’t improve he will go down as one of the biggest #1 overall draft pick busts in NFL history

Either way, I don't follow your logic. Watson used to be a proven asset but took two years off and quit on his old team. The trade was terrible based on the results thus far, and people thought it was an overpay even when it happened.

Also, Broncos gave up proven and speculative assets for Wilson, then extended him, and are now cutting him before the extension even kicks in. That is infinitely worse than what we did.

The dead money hit we took to trade both DJ and CMC (Which is a separate also bad trade in it's own right) is a fraction of the guaranteed money both the Browns and the Broncos have invested in the QBs they traded for.

But seriously, ask any other fanbase in the league about where these trades rank in terms of awfulness. 10/10 will say both Watson and Wilson were worse based on assets given up, and cap space allotted to whoever you trade for is an asset. Most will say it's too early to throw the towel in on Bryce to tell with him, but even if he does suck, it isn't in the same ballpark as the other two, and the other two may not even be in the same ballpark as Herschel Walker.

If Bryce busts, we draft a replacement in 2025 and our cap will be healthy. The Broncos and Browns are in cap purgatory and may have to let good talent walk in order to maintain a competitive roster all without having a franchise QB with minimal assets to fill in a good team around whatever QB they end up with.

The Bryce trade didn't ruin us because we were a bad team to begin with.

How do you kill that which is already dead?

Not the worst in NFL but definitely the worst in Panthers history.

Sean Gilbert still has that, for now....

Far as finssssererererererer, the beaguals had a what 1-31 span. Whoever that GM was, i think it was the owner mike brown..... Jets had similar times as well. (gene something) Millen was worse as other said.

Those teams didn't miss out on a 22 year old dude who looks like he could be a future Hall of Fame QB.  Those teams didn't trade away a future No. 1 overall pick, making them trading for the No. 1 overall pick look dumb.  Imagine if Bryce busts.  The Panthers would have essentially chosen him over CJ Stroud, Caleb Williams, and Drake Maye.  All those two really need to be is somewhat decent in their rookie seasons to make the Panthers look like fools (unless Bryce turns it around).

Also, we shouldn't forget that Fitterer was trying his best to get in on each of those deals, too...

And yes, the Bryce pick was possibly a bust of epic, legendary proportions. We'll know next season. Might as well hope he magically improves and gains an inch or two in height, it's not like we haven't managed to get ourselves mightily stuck here.

yeah, we simply lost the ability to draft in the top 10....for the 5th straight year.  Let's say we had our first round pick? None of those type picks have been curing the issue. I don't think Marvin Harrison Jr alone is solving anything.

Gilbert wasn't a trade, it was signing a tagged player and forfeiting picks as a result

welllll i guess its not a trade even if it was two 1s for a used up player. Plus its hard to call the byce trade already one-sided.
