y'all need to get used to the idea that we aren't going to interview anyone else aside from these three because most won't consider this to be a good option. Slowik is likely going to take the Ben Johnson route and stand pat for another year while Ben Johnson and other guys have better situations interested in them.

True, there's nothing flashy about guys like Evero, Canales, and Morris, but they could all easily be, in their own rights, better than what we've had in years. All three are good about getting a lot out of their players. Canales would probably be a lot more useful to us as far as getting a QB ready to be a winner here, but i think all of them are definitely respectable.

we aren't the cool catch that can get any hyped up HC we want, so we have to set the bar at respectable.

To be fair you have no idea and are just stating your opinion of what you think might be going on behind the scenes.  No coaching prospect has publicly said anything about turning down an interview with us and they all accepted the first one.

I've been wondering when this was going to happen. One of the biggest things Carolina is looking for is structure and accountability. Vrabel's past defensive schemes are also very similar to EEs and I imagine he would be open to keeping him around. It has also been rumored that Vrabel has Arthur Smith on his OC shortlist- I doubt Atlanta responded well to that.

It is definitely a wild card possibility.

Wonder if it could be Macdonald?  One of the guys being interviewed everywhere that we had for round 1.

Everyone and their grandma knows we've been interested in Ben Johnson, and that the Commanders are eyeing him, so there's not much to really dance around there.

Any word on Macdonald from your end?

Not really. It was reported they were fond of both coordinators but that cooled down after the interviews. That could mean anything. I can see Macdonald getting another interview though, I'm not really sure if Todd Monken's personality is what they are looking but I could be wrong. Macdonald is really engaging leader and has the brains to back it up.

Yeah him and Canales are the once I’ve around interesting outside of Johnson. Don’t really have much interest in Monken so that’s good to hear haha.

Sounds like it’s still a bit open ended. Interesting to see what unfolds.

Belichik out of the running in ATL? Sure seemed like a done deal last week.

Getting the impression from what I've read that some of what he was wanting might have scared them off.

That's mostly speculation though.

Most, if not all, teams have moved away from giving all control to the HC these days. So I think you are spot on.

I just hope whoever comes in has a clear & consistent vision.

Not the preachy BS that Rhule spewed out with clueless college and over the hill NFL position coaches.

Not the "let's grab every NFL lifer we can think of and bring them together to collaborate" approach under Reich.  Not to mention, he was a rambler on the mic as well.

Just a clear idea of what they want on defense, offense, the type of team they want, the type of culture they want to instill.  Give us the well-defined, hard sh*t, not the fluff, not the disorganized chaos.

Benjamin Allbright hinted at Vrabel, what do you think?

Something to keep in mind. Once Raheem Morris and Dave Canales officially interview today, the Panthers meet the Rooney Rule requirements and can hire a HC at any point after that. There is the possibility that the Canales hype was covering for the Vrabel interview. It seems like the news didn't break that he was interviewing in Carolina until after he was on his way out of Atlanta.

I think Vrabel is a Wild Card, he doesn't bring the flashy type of football that Tepper likes and I doubt they get along much at all but Morgan could be the buffer.

I still think Canales or Quinn could be in play just off of their connections to Dan Morgan but I just don't think the Panthers are ready to commit to either one yet. Definitely much more likely chance of Canales over Quinn though.

I think Macdonald has a better chance than Monken out of the Baltimore crowd. He's young, been with John H. a while, has a strong personality, and giant finance brain. Prior to this season and his time at Georgia, Monken had a spotty career. He's also an older guy and I don't believe he brings that structure that they are looking for. He's much more of the Xs/Os type guy.

I imagine the Panthers wait on Ben Johnson until next week. I think you at least have to bring him down to Charlotte and take your shot in person. I think his chances of going to Washington are pretty high. Only way I see that not happening is if Macdonald gets in there first and pulls it out from under him.

In no particular order I would have to say: Canales, Macdonald, Monken, and Vrabel as the wild card.
