There is absolutely no defending the Wallace pick.  None.  It was an INCREDIBLE reach based solely on athletic traits.  Most boards had him between 150 and 234.  We took him at 72!  SEVENTY TWO!!!

Depending on which board you follow, there were at least six or more LB'ers rated higher than Wallace on the board when we drafted:  Payton Wilson, Trotter Jr, Cedric Gray, Jordan Magee, Nathaniel Watson and Curtis Jacobs.

Boards are meaningless. The respected sources were high on him.

Brooks is the best RB in this draft and overall seemed to be ranked around the 45-50 player on the board. He is also a day one starter, although Hubbard will get plenty of carries as the complementary back.

Without the injury, he is a day 1 starter.  Not sure we can actually consider him that now.

there was a study on NFL guys and ACLs. Average time to return to field was 49.7 weeks.   He tore his knee mid November.  Over half the guys, 56%, re-injured the knee within 10 weeks of returning.

I mean, everyone is different.  No way to know.  People are always going to talk optimistic.  Especially in a draft scenario.

Do we really want to bring him along on the quick side of things?  I think Carolina should take the cautious side.

Very valid point. He’s a day one starter based on talent and film. I think we will be available for training camp from the rehab. But you are 100% correct, they should proceed with caution. Especially with him having so few carries in college. No reason with Sanders and Hubbard already on the team to try and push him out too quickly.

I’ve seen other places that had him as a top 75 player and the potential to be an elite nfl lb

not a fan of the wallace pick but everything else i can understand the reasoning and makes sense. dan has done a decent job to make sure the panthers have a say so in each round and getting a 2 next year was amazing. if he grab tampa or Franklin here i will be pretty pleased with the draft.

After sleeping on it, one thing came to mind that I do like about this draft so far is that these picks are not win now picks. It feels like the GM/Coach in Carolina has been trying to keep their jobs for so long that they have drafted and signed players without a longer vision.  First it was Hurney and Rivera, then Rhule then Fitt then Reich.

All of these picks have greater value after 2024. They can and will contribute this season but immediate returns aren’t needed to satisfy the owner and save the job of the GM/Coach.

This honestly feels like another Fitterer draft. Probably because it might as well be. I don't think the decision maker has actually changed.

I couldn't agree more. This draft might end up with a different outcome, but the process feels like deja vu all over again.

I took note of that too. No ‘save my butt screw the future’ moves.

I think they are totally safe to return for 2025 no matter what.

I like that they can operate that way, it should be lead to a better build.

And I know there are still unaddressed needs that will be left hanging. unfortunately but it was too much to fill in a single year.

Just seem like the ability to grab three impact guys was there and we reached at all 3 picks becuase we fell in love with all three picks and had extreme tunnelvision

I wonder if Marty Hurney is somehow telepathically sending thoughts into Morgans brain
