Another Reason The Panthers May have Traded Up To Get Legette

Recommended Posts

Buffalo not being all nice to New England?  In what world would people expect a team to treat their divisional competitors fairly?

When have those New England bastards ever done anything but work to undermine their competitors?

Buffalo should be trading with someone on New England’s schedule hoping to help deal them a loss, and New England is supposed to know that.  If anyone in New England is whining about it... lol.

Word on the street is that Beane called Morgan when he got word that the Patriots wanted to move up for Legette. Morgan gets to move up for relatively cheap to get his guy, Beane gets to move back and still get his guy, and the Pats get screwed over. Win, win, win.

Should have called his bluff and picked Cooper DeJean if the Patriots traded up.

in a draft where you screw over the pats and the cowboys and rip off the rams, i think we did good.

i don't have a problem with the rams, btw. but it was nice not getting the bad end of a deal like that deal for once.

I respect the Rams though. They got their guy. Scouts really liked Braden Fiske.

Sometimes---probably all the time---you can't pay those value charts any mind.

Slow your roll a little. Back in 2021, while many of us just wanted OL with almost every pick, there was a lot of cheering when we got TMJ right before the Saints.

We got all excited for Fittermagic and in the end, we got poo instead of a pro-bowl C many of us wanted and NO got a starting LB and had to double up in 2022 on WR and got Olave and Shaheed.

I don’t think we won the “screwing over” part of the draft then, and it worries me every time I see posts that mirror something we did in the Rhule, Hurney, Fitt and Reich periods.

Here’s to hoping for different results and yes, to all that think cautious hope is terrible, I do actually want Legette and every other move to succeed. The past 6 years has sucked balls.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
