Okay.  I don't care to argue about who the Texans preferred.  My point still stands.  Had the Panthers taken Stroud, Texans would have taken Young.  Either way a team was going to make the "mistake" because drafting QBs is hard.

Seems to be the case, but we really don't know that either for sure. Maybe AR or even Levis (doubtful, but just for the sake or argument) would have been their choice if Carolina takes Stroud. All we know is that they were not concerned about not having control of the pick, and even if Young would have been their pick that doesn't absolve Carolina of any legitimate concerns that they may have overlooked. Having more than one team/person/etc willing to make a mistake doesn't automatically make it a good thing to do.

All we know is the Texans put in the card for Stroud with 5 minutes left on the clock so they weren't fuging around too much about feeling good about taking him. Bryce was still on stage talking and they were like done got our guy lol.

Bryce Young’s lack of arm strength was truly baffling. I didn’t really notice how bad it was at Bama ,but every game this past year he would make throws that legit pissed me off that we drafted him. It was insane how long the ball would float in the air on simple out routes, corners, digs etc. For the people claiming fixing his footwork will solve the issue.. Lol.. There’s no fixing it.  It’s too awful

Bruh, just stop.  Levis was not going over Bryce lol.  "Doubtful" come on now.

No disrespect but that is just a foolish take even with you acknowledging how doubtful it was.  Levis didn't even go in the 1st.  Seriously, what are we doing here?

I like how everyone is so fixated over this one thing as opposed to my overall point, which is that drafting QBs is hard.

You really think if Stroud went No. 1, the Texans weren't going to take Bryce?  And if the Texans took Richardson, the Colts wouldn't have taken Young or traded it to someone who would?  Some of ya'll really be acting ridiculous.  Bryce was not dropping out of the top 3.  And almost certainly would have went #2 to the Texans if the Panthers took Stroud.

It really blows me that some of you are saying otherwise, when even the most glued-in Texans beat writer has said the Texans wanted Bryce.  But I'm sure you know better than him.

I literally said in my other post that we still deserve criticism, so what are you talking about?  Do you even know what my initial post was about?  Never once did I say it was okay to draft a bust because other teams draft busts.

Do we deserve criticism for that?  Absolutely.

Mods, feel free to put me in my place if I'm going too far.  But it needs to be said.

Some of you need to start reading posts in full instead of making it ALL about Bryce every single damn time.  Ultimately my point was that drafting QBs is hard, and if it wasn't the Panthers mistake, it would have been another teams.  Just like Trey Lance, just like Mac Jones, just like Blake Bortles, just like Blaine Gabbert,... I can go on and on.

Yes, Panthers screwed up (assuming Bryce doesn't improve).  Yes, we should be criticized.  But it happens.  The guy asked how it happens and I was just answering his question.  That teams miss on QBs every year, because getting a QB is hard and teams will take every opportunity they can to get one.

But I'm not about to sit and discuss this with someone who thinks Levis even had .001% chance of going ahead of Bryce.  That tells me all I need to know.  No reasonable person would even throw him in the discussion.

Bryce was rated QB1 on more sites than not. It’s ok to acknowledge that. It now looks like Stroud should have been QB1 but that happens a lot. Mahomes went after Mitch. Lamar went in the bottom of the first. Alex Smith went 1st and Rodgers went late first. People may not like we picked Young, but we can’t try to rewrite history again and again.

People seem to forget that. It was Young vs Stroud. Very few people were thinking Richardson could or even should be in play. I think we were linked to Levis early in the process, probably more early process due diligence more then anything, but once they made the move from #9 that stopped.

Saying that basically no team would not have passed him by,  I guess means that reports that some teams just took Bryce off their boards were false?

I don’t know this for a fact but am willing to believe that there were teams that would have passed. I know if I were in charge he wouldn’t be in Carolina.

Person reported our board was Bryce AR then Stroud.   Fitt was fired but morgan remains.  Pretty pretty nuts if we are being honest

    • To start with, you wouldn’t want to count up that value chart. You would see quickly where that is headed. But you basically did a quantity comparison, while ignoring quality.  I am looking at 2023 as the start, because it became all about Bryce.  2023 you have 4 picks plus DJ Moore for offense vs 2 (80 and 145) for defense.  2024 you got the 1st overall, the 32, the 46 and the 101 for offense vs 72, 157, 200 and 240 for defense. Leave the FA IOL out of it. Which was a crazy big  investment. But it wasn’t draft.  Anyway, that is basically 4 top 100 picks for offense and 4 picks for defense in 2024. Except they were 2 first rounders, the second rounder, and the 4th was really high at 101. Vs 72 and day three stuff. Please….  Second quoted/bolded… See you think we hate Bryce. That isn’t it at all. It is nice easy way to characterize us and discredit our talking points though.   Me, I do mostly hate watching him play. But I don’t hate the person. I hate the hell out of the stanning.  It started with the very first question I asked about his footwork, arm strength, and size. Height being the principle objection. I never even got to the durability factor. There was plenty without factoring that in.  But there was rabid opposition to even asking the question of what a couple of small fractions of a second extra closing time would do for the defenders.  What the extra time it takes to flip the hips would do vs a pass rush or on the other end after the ball is in the air. Split second more for recognition where it is going for the DBs.  The tippy toe backpedal.  That poo was a mess and it has always been mess but no Bryce fan wanted to hear it. “Go get another team to root for”. “It worked in the SEC it will be fine in the NFL you don’t know football you are just a hater”.  It got worse when the real games started. It has never stopped. It is nice that many people have left that train so there is less abuse but it hasn’t stopped.  So whatever…
    • Whatever school you attended, I don't know and I don't care, but I would suggest demanding a refund.    Something was completely missed there.
    • The draft capital since since 2023 has in no way been pretty even.  Especially when you zero in on day 1 and day 2 draft picks.  Draft capital has vastly gone toward the O over D.
