It's pretty simple if you take off the blinders. They lost to Nebraska and Kansas because they're just not that good. They're a borderline top 20 type of team that's good enough to play with the top teams if they're on their A game but are flawed enough to lose to practically anyone any given week if they're not on their A game.

They lost to K State.  If you can’t beat K State you aren’t good.

well, I didn't see this earlier.   Warde Manuel just said yesterday SMU could drop behind Alabama (and who knows who else) if they lose.....so I guess you can be punished for playing in a Championship game.  I swear I thought they said they wouldn't do that earlier in the year.

he confirmed a team that doesn't play can't jump another team that doesn't play.

So based on that, SMU now has to win to be in.  And if you are SMU, the ACC title game only presents risk and no real reward.

So I retract my statement that Dabo could save folks from Bama.  No one can save you from Bama.

A lot of people made a big fuss about the announcer during the GA/GA tech game basically saying "for the win and CFP position" (something like that) every time GA had the ball and/or chance to win in OT.

You can literally say this about Alabama who loss to Vanderbilt.

What about Notre Dame losing to Northern Illinois

Any team can be beat unless you're Oregon.

ND is never that good. That's why they've gotten absolutely waxed every time they've been put in the playoffs. Bama is basically the same team they were with Hurts. Good team but very limited in the passing game. If they're out in a situation where they have to pass to keep pace they're gonna lose. I don't see them as legit contenders and I honestly don't think they should be in the playoffs.

ND cherry picks their whole schedule.  They’ll most likely get wrecked in the playoff.

outscored 61-17 to date in the CFP.  Zero wins.

I do think the 12 team format decreases the odds of first game blowouts.  Which weren't uncommon in the old format.

Milroe is just too much of a liability in the passing game IMO.

He’s actually a liability in the running game as well. He’s wants to be the hero and keeps the ball waaaay too much on read options. It’s how Oklahoma beat them. He simply kept the ball and OU was keying on him.

I’ll pull for Bama if they make it in. Do I think they deserve to be in? No. I said as much Monday when I sent a text to a friend with South Carolina as the #12 seed. Even if Bama does get in, I’m not sure they make it out of the first round.

I welcome such insanity.  I welcome the Gamecocks mental gymnastics as well. As Dabo said yesterday, they were the first 15-0 national champ, why not be the first 3 loss champ.  My favorite part is how self-aware Dabo is off the hate of him/Clemson....and how annoyed people will be if they even win the ACC.

but regardless, I'm pulling for the lowest seeds until they are eliminated.  Well, outside of UNLV.  I want Boise St in and see Jeanty vs a good D.

It has nothing to do with Clemson per say and everything to do with not understanding how you can literally beat the National Champion right before the playoffs and be told..nope..not good enough. All because your "brand" isn't strong enough. It's retarded.

This scenario only applies if they go all the way. But the committee has proven one thing for sure and that's they don't know ball.

Correct. The Brand is too strong.

Alabama did beat some damn good teams.  If SMU wants in they need to beat Clemson.  They beat a few decent teams but schedule was weak.

Yeah, I think with SOS logging in at 75….and no win vs anyone that finished in the top 25 they would be out.  Committee already signaling they can drop below that Bama line.  And think if you drop them below Bama they would keep falling past SC

Well lucky indiana that they don't have to go to a championship game lmao.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
