We have to give Canales a chance.

He did have a historically bad qb to work with will never really know how bad all the coaches were or if young just killed them all.

Sorry but no you could see how unprepared we were every Sunday. Not adjustments, no attempts to scheme anyone open, adjust blocking schemes. I saw more from Canales today to attempt to mask our weaknesses than anything Reich did

Andy Reid couldn't win with Bryce Young , looking back now , We shouldn't have judged Reich so harshly , he knew Young wasn't it from the first practice, but he had to start him anyway to keep his job ,but Tepper fired him anyway,  a QB is a teams foundation this day and age and we have nothing.  We aren't even rebuilding ,we are just rolling in poo, because Teppers ego

Bryce Young makes me miss the Sam Darnold and PJ Walker days , no matter how many coaches Tepper fires, Bryce Young is still gonna suck, and so will the Panthers has long has he is here

Canales isn’t the biggest concern when you got people like Tepper, Morgan, Young etc in line to worry about first.

With that said, I don’t see how there isn’t some level of concern with him. If he was truly forced to go along with Young by Tepper then he’s ultimately just another yes man and let’s be real how often do those situations end up working out for us? On the opposite side, if he truly believed he could fix Young and sold Tepper on that idea I’m not exactly confident in his QB evaluation abilities lol

He should get some more time but I really don’t see why people would feel comfortable with him one way or the other.

I am sure he took the job when the caveat to coach up Young his first season. To fire him after what we saw today would be insane. The scheme is there. Young is just not capable of playing in the NFL.

Reich was judged fairly, he was completely inept.

That isn’t how it works. I’m sure the terms of the job was you have 1 year to try your offense with Young

Yes I’m aware terribly run franchises will have moronic stipulations like that and many lower end coaches still accept them to get a job

It rarely works out in the long run. Tepper has messed up every decision so far not sure if this will be any different

I'm not sure what this roster was supposed to look like, realistically.

We didn't have picks, we didn't have cap space.  Did we really think we'd have a kickass roster in just one year of turnover?  We'll be lucky if half the guys starting this year actually pan out long term.

I don't think you can really give Canales a fair evaluation given the constraints he's working with.

Maybe I'm missing it on the broadcast, but does Bryce even call out protections at the line?  I've seen other QBs do it, but it seems we're always up against the last few ticks of the play clock every single snap.  There were at least two (that I saw) absolutely blown protections on obvious blitzes, and I don't think the "super computer" at QB can even read a fuging defense.  I'm over this clown.

Tepper can't rage fire another coach in his first season. He just can't. He's already made working for him the hardest sell in the league. Rage fire another coach mid-season and guys are just gonna start telling their agents to cook up a plausible excuse for them to turn down interviews. I don't want to risk getting an offer.

Especially not when you're the guy that wanted the current quarterback.

47-10 and the team looked totally inept.  There is a reason he didnt get moved up in seattle, there is a reason we were his only interview.  Call me premature but I have been dead balls accurate about this shitty franchise and we are completely starting over in 3 years if not sooner.   Good coaches dont have their teams looking like that or whatever that was today.

That positivity poo is going to be a real crowd pleaser in the locker room when you are 1-8 and getting your dick kicked in by 30ish points a game

I guess there is something about him that makes me want to see him succeed as a coach and that would be an absolute nightmare to within three years be searching for a new coach. That would mean we are unwatchable and shitty the next few seasons well and I have to be honest that last season and the start of this one is depressing as hell to sit through. There is nothing worse than watching the offense go through a QB that appears to by all means be a nice guy but just isn't an NFL football player or doesn't appear to even be aggressive or confident enough to be a team leader or captain. It's all sad and Canales has to work out to even have any sort of short term hope the next few years.

    • Wanted to jump into this thread. Although I do not post anymore I do look in as there are a few old friends around. Loved hearing some of the names you mentioned.  Another  oldie is NanceUSMC.  He is the one who got me here from the old Observer forum.  Good guy and smart football guy. I have learned a lot from a lot of good Huddlers over the years, Over time. we have sadly lost a few who left this earth too soon.  Anyone who know of someone, it would be nice to try to make a list.  One of the more recent, CosmoGirl,  was someone that kind of hit hard.  Life sucks sometimes. Some of the best times were when we had our own tailgate and could meet up in person.  I think it made us better. Several dedicated volunteers, lead by LiverMush, started setting things up in the wee hours of each gameday morning.  Don't know all those regulars but I remember JakeFlake was one.  For you newbies...each game,  a Huddler (or a group) sponsored the food for each tailgate.  Eating was free but a donation was asked for.  At the end of the year those donations were used to buy bicycles for Toys for Tots.  Over the years Huddlers bought a lot of new bikes for kids for Christmas.  (I am guessing a couple of hundred each year.)  We had a good time getting together, got to make friends in person, and then got to feel like you were doing something good. It was truly a community. I got to meet Dan Morgan at one of our tailgates...he brought pizza from his restaurant.  How many of you remember that?  Glad the restaurant did not make it....lol. Not only have people changed, and come and gone.....but the entire nature and purpose has changed. Nothing lasts forever and we move on but we still like to think about good times. Same reason we take pictures. Want to ask a question I have not seen anyone else mention......who remembers    "The Couch" ?  We have argued, laughed, lived the ups and downs of football and dealt with a little real life along the way.  A thanks to  the Mods who keep this going.  I am sure they sacrifice a lot of their time out of love for the forum and the Panthers. Take care my friends and be well.  I will close with my new favorite quote which I think is greatly needed in these difficult times.
    • My top-5 JAGS: 1. Tommy Tremble: May not ever be top-tier, but has been solid and you never doubt the effort. 2. Cade Mays: Not bad for a 6th rounder. Hated to see him go. 3. Brady Christensen: One of the most versatile backup OLs in the NFL. Hopefully we re-sign him. 4. Trevis Gipson: Quietly was really solid depth last season. Glad we brought him back. 5. Brycen Tremayne: Has been solid depth at WR, flashing at times last year.
    • He wasn't a JAG, he's been a starter every year of his career. Didn't turn into the superstar it seemed like he might his rookie year, but I think part of that has been being misused. Guy was/is a baller.
