Feeling Undeniably Optimistic

We’ll be fine.

I really like Legette. He had a bad drop, but he’s showing something. Hell, Mingo is showing he’s good depth. These dudes are just young.

Just need to focus on the defense this draft, then get our QB of the future the next year.

Bad drops by XL. He is a body catcher which is a big concern. He needs a LOT of polish.

Mingo....he is just another in a long line of Panthers WR busts. He might not even make the roster next season.

Agree totally. We aren’t winning the Super Bowl this year.

the bengals are solid. We got dominated in the middle 8 minutes today. That happens. We gave up points on an INT that was batted at the line. Just unfortunate.

Head coaching is learned. Canales made some mistakes. But man I was happy with both sides of the ball today. Feels optimistic for the first time in quite some time.

I'm not worried about receivers at the moment, but if we can't lock up DJ, I may start worrying. I think that we have some young guys to coach up. I'm more worried about the long term answer at QB.

From what I've been watching, QB aside (depending upon how we want to approach the position), I think that our biggest problem is legitimate pass rushers. We need one. Clowney is OK as your secondary option (like Burns was in my opinion), but we need a guy who's going to get after the QB with legitimacy and consistency. Allowing QBs to play playground football in the offensive backfield is not going to lead to success. We need a pass rushers or two above all (especially if we can't get a top QB in our natural draft position).

You know we're taking this loss better than I can remember us taking one in a long time.

There is no freak out. We're left still feeling good about the team.

I think things have changed.

Well, one just has to be realistic. We may get a few wins this year because we are actually competitive, but we aren't  legitimate contenders, as we have too many holes. But we can see incremental improvement despite the holes.

I’m optimistic that we have a coach.  I like his aggression and the offense is well designed.  I liked the call to fake the punt.

He's bold. He's only going to get better. He's already the most aggressive coach we've had and he comes by it naturally, not forced like Rivera.

Burrow had just too much time to [ick off our defense .  Dalton is our QB for now. If he can get extended for next year and we get a good DE we could wait until 2026 for a QB .We need to extend Johnson and Hubbard .  We may lose Thielen but I think we can make up this loss .  I hope Brooks can play next week .

Well, there is some sense that we aren't utter chaos. We are bereft of talent and have a mismanaged roster but the coaching seems sound. That is a first in a long time.

    • You literally did it right there and didn't even remember it. Sorry long Friday.
    • TMac to finish up Feels good after pads came on. Physicality is a little different, playstyle is a little different. Refs let the players play, so he has to earn his stripes to get calls and just has to be better playing through contact. Focusing on staying confident and listening to coaches. Not much has changed for him, still trying to be his authentic self. Was asked about boxing practice he was seen doing. He's done that since he was a kid because his dad was a boxer and taught his siblings. Was the youngest and got beat up the most, but now he's the fourth of sixth children. Boxing helps with his cardio and being reactive with his hands to the ball + DB. Admits to struggling the first couple of days, hats off to the DB corps for making him better every single day but had his best day on Wednesday. Even the best get got. Just have to remain confident in preparation and abilities. Confidence will take you only so far, and that's where his resilience plays a factor. XL is authentic and great to have in the room. Can rely on him to be the same guy every day. They make each other better. Everybody feeds off of each other and when one person wins they all win. Happy to be a part of the receiver room. Was asked about how he was laughing harder than everybody else at XL getting his feet in the water off the back of the boat: "Man he needs to be stopped bro... He can't be serious but he was serious. It's all good." Playing against the increased amount of press he's facing in practice is helping him get more physical. His job is to catch the ball, so if it touches his hand he has to come down with it. Only catches with one hand if he needs to, but that gives the QB a bigger catch radius. Had a pregame routine where he did a 360 one-handed catch, but doesn't do it anymore. Working on being a pro: Getting into the facility early and getting treatment, eating better, etc. Just wants to win re: rookie goals. Anything he can do to help the team win. "I'm looking for to the season man and keep pounding."
    • DJ Wonnum up next Felt the defense came out ready to work at all levels and took over practice. New standard around here. Young guys have to know they're coming in to work. Last year was not the standard. Nic and Princely are fun. Different personalities but loves what they bring to the room. Sky is the limit for them. Nic sits next to Wonnum, Princeley sits next to Jones II. Allows them to be better mentors. Feels great and ready to go Incoom's athleticism allows him to bend and get low even to compensate for not being the biggest guy. Can set the edge. EDGE guys are helped when the ILBs can get home because it allows them to be a little more free while still in scheme. DB being back means his dominance is back. Can set the edge from the 3 or wherever he's at to make the runs bounce to the EDGE guys. Winning mentality and standard this year. Championship level from practice to how you live off of the field. Accept greatness and excellence with guys wanting to come to work every day. Not settling for anything less. Been in guys' shoes that are fighting for roster spots so he knows how to address them. Remembers not knowing what's next, especially as a rookie. Have a clear mind and ask the older guys a lot of questions. Has a good relationship already with Pat Jones II due to knowing each other and talking football all of the time. Can make hand gestures and know immediately what to adjust. Taking care of his body and excited to start the season. Getting it acclimated to football again by being able to tackle and bring players to the ground. Didn't know they were playing live tomorrow. Don't tell me it'll be "thud." Browns next week will allow them to hit somebody else and get a feel of what a different team is doing. Also allows the team to see where they're at on offense and defense. Ready to play football. Not worried about the QB matchup for Cleveland, going to play hard regardless of who is back there.
