The worst defense in the NFL

Between the injuries and the JAG's they have playing, this has got to be the worst bunch they have ever had.

Totally unable to stop any thing and just flopping around missing tackles with zero pass rush.

After watching this team for 20 plus years, I can honestly say this is the worst I have seen. They should go full defense in the draft regardless of any other needs.

No matter who the QB is, they can't win with this defense.

Bryce is the reason we decimated our defense in order to spend money to upgrade the offensive line to give him more protection, only to have him play so poorly that he was benched two games into the season. Gosh, I can't stand that unmotivated midget who spent the first four months of the off-season watching Netflix and Youtube instead of fixing his footwork and improving his game. It's one thing to be physically extremely limited, but it's another to be such a lazy bum who couldn't even bother to put in the work after having an all-time stinker of a rookie season. Not to mention, he refused to throw at the combine and put on a bunch of fake water weight to tip the scales at over 200 lbs in order to maintain his draft position. Where the fug is his competitive fire? Where is his pride and his sense of responsibility not only for himself but also for his teammates and the Panthers organization that's paying him millions? What did we do to deserve this disgraceful, soft, apathetic disaster of a quarterback?

We had a QB that wouldn't tow the company line and the owners let Tepper buy the Panthers as some weird fuged up revenge.

Need to be on the phone with every vet pass rusher available regardless age, this pass rush is the worst I’ve ever seen, talking 10-15 secs in the pocket it felt like Caleb had to throw.

Tepper has gotta be trolling us by this point, it takes some skill to field quite possibly the worst offense of all time and on pace for the worst defense of all time

Yeah he was playing college ball out there apparently lol. People saying we couldn't get beat by a really good SEC team or whatever might wanna reconsider the stance

That was the big concern I had about him at USC. He has a tendency to hold the ball forever. Considering our defense that doesn't really matter. We'll let you. Just throw when you're comfortably and good and ready. LOL

It'd be one thing if just the pass rush was lacking but we can't stop the run either. When you can't stop the run and you can't rush the passer you're cooked. That's the whole ballgame on defense. You absolutely can't afford to suck at both.

Our defense cannot be considered a professional football defense. Back ups or not, they should at least qualify as NFL talent and they don’t. Injuries happen but this is some next level bullshit. fug Evero and his so called defensive unit that plays like homeless ass.

    • So the last guy who had the job got hired by his former team directly into a role he has no direct experience in?
    • Hard to pass up millions for a couple of days work per week for a coaching gig in the NFL that is 60-80 hours each week during the season and a more relaxed 50 hours a week during the off season. Yeah, I'd love to see him as our DC but hard to see him giving up the cushy job there if he gets it. And he's going to be a great commentator for the network.
    • Really, I think that is where negotiations come in. If you've got a QB getting you to 10 wins but statistically he's not a great performer, then you say look you can take $22 million or you can try it on the market. Because let's face it, out there, any leadership skills that we're seeing aren't going to be on the table, it's just going to be performance and that lands him in the QB2 market, which is much, much less lucrative (although any of us would love that money).  No one is saying that Bryce will be a $50 million QB, barring something short of a miraculous jump. I'm just saying that if we are winning somehow with him at the helm, then it would be fuging stupid to dive back into the rookie pool all over again. Let's say we do hit the 10 win mark, heck, let's call it 11 and a second round in the playoffs. I think we can all say that would be a really uplifting result and one that should be doable if we have good play. What do we do then? Here's what I would offer if I were Morgan and Tepper. $25 million a year for 3 years, each year with up to $10 million in incentives for touchdowns, wins, playoff depth, being under 10 interceptions, completing a full season, passing yardage milestones, taking less than 15 sacks. Look, Bryce isn't a Ferrari, he isn't a Corvette, or a mid-level BMW. He's probably a new Toyota Sienna that will definitely get you somewhere and bring the whole team along with it, no fuss but not a lot of pizazz.  And really, it's about the destination, not about what drove you there.
