Build up the Dline, just like the Oline

The offensive line has become the strongest unit on the team. They have made the running game click and kept Bryce vertical.

The next step is building a dominant Dline. Use the draft and FA to add the pieces needed. That would make the biggest difference. A QB would be nice (Bryce has looked better, but still not close to being a game changer.)

Defiantly need to get the defense up to snuff. If Bryce keeps improving, he may get another season. They can't go another season with the defense being a weak link.

This. Lucky for enough.. there appears to be good options this draft class

Getting back Derrick Brown will be a big help……Brown plus Robinson is not a bad combination. Just need some Edge’s next. Would be great of Wonnum could be part of the solution. I actually think the secondary is in pretty good shape.

Robinson has been solid. Would have loved to see Brown and him more this season. If Wonnum can be decent, then we should grab a couple Edges (1st, 2nd rounds) or grab one and try to grab a linebacker.

Very, very early..but Abdul Carter, Landon Jackson, Lander Barton and Deone Walker seems like intersting options.

As far as QBs..Rourke out of Indiana could be an interesting option.

I like Landon a lot, I believe he is going to be a beast at the next level and can, more than likely, get him in later rounds.

That's cool but just know we aren't winning anything until we solve the elephant in the room.

Franchise QB

See, there's this whole thing about get your "Franchise" QB and you're golden. Except, well, it's crap.

Look at the Jets, year after year, trying to draft that dude, never hitting. Then they go out and wrangle Aaron Rogers. And they're still crap.

Why?

Because they haven't built a team. Their o-line is suspect, their defense is leaky.

A QB isn't the answer, until you've got the rest of your units up to at least middle of the pack quality.

Think about how long it took us to get right after drafting Cam. Phenomenal talent, impactful player, still took four years of team building before he took off.

And on the other side, if you build a strong pair of O and D lines, then work hard at developing your skill players, someone like Jared Goff or Sam Darnold can come in and have success. Brock Purdy can get you to the Super Bowl.

Trying to find your "franchise" QB at the top of the draft isn't a luxury pick, it's most often a wasteful pick. Get you the best d-lineman, tackle or linebacker in the draft.

I think the fact we’ve had multiple injuries of varying length and see a consistency of performance shows this isn’t just the personnel.

Scheme, positional coaching and the players have to be in sync to perform like this.

So making the big FA splash will only work if the scheme and coaching can take advantage and develop them into a cohesive unit. I’m unsure if we have that unity on the defensive side where Canales had the luxury of bringing over someone who was already coaching in his scheme and then picked the guys that most likely thrive.

You realize the Commanders and Texans both had trash rosters. That's how they ended up with the #2 pick.

How all of sudden they go from bottom feeders to a playoff team the following season?

I think you don't realize the true impact of a franchise QB. It's crazy people still trying to debate the value of the QB position.

Y'all living in the 90's football isn't played that way anymore. The Baltimore Ravens dominate defense won in a different era. This is a QB era. You can't hit them like you could in the past. The rules have changed in favor of the QB.

Look at the elite teams in the league they all have elite QBs. Without the QB your franchise is going nowhere.

7 years under Tepper and fans still haven't realized this. Well keep ignoring the QB position and we will keep sucking. It's really that simple.

I hope we prioritize defense as well. Get the best pass rusher with our first pick and beef up the front 7

I suspect we will be in the 5-10 range, so we should be able to get one of the top defenders available. Not sure it will be a pass rusher. Honestly, this class is pretty light on high end pass rushers.

i do agree that the focus needs to be on the front 7.

the front that we've got now would look MUCH better with Derrick Brown there. A'Shawn and Shy are good, but the three of them together would have big time changed what we have been able to do up front. I want to see them together next year.

I like Clowney and i'm thrilled we got Wonnum in there finally. I'm hoping that Wonnum and he are able to secure things on the edge going forward. Hopefully we can keep those two and add to edge through the draft. Those two together with the trio of Brown/Tuttle/Robinson was how it was supposed to be. We need to add depth to all of that, though.

And then at linebacker, i think that tevin wallace is the future in the middle of the LB corps. i really like josey jewell as well. we do need to be strengthening the LB corps, though...especially if we switch back to 4-3 (which i really don't see happening for a while).

We need depth and we need the guys to stay healthy. i think we actually have a good start. it's just having the guys be healthy. If we add a couple FA parts and then go heavy in the draft towards the front 7, i think we'll be seeing a lot of improvement.

    • It wasn’t completely his fault, but outside of two throws and one or two scrambles he didn’t do much to help. His accuracy was all over the place, numerous passes that were placed poorly and didn’t give the receiver a good chance to catch the ball or do anything with it after. He also continues to display terrible pocket awareness. Even the sacks could have been avoided, they weren’t immediate like the pressure we got on Shough at times. Bryce just often has no feel for pressure and stands there waiting to get sacked after numerous seconds have passed.
    • I really fuging hate this era in so many ways.  I look at those Adin Ross and Neon kids, and I just wonder why tf are they famous?  Why would anyone be desperate enough to gain THAT audience that they’d risk money, career, disciplinary action to go up there and associate with those fuging dweebs?  And back in my day, racist peers got their ass beat.  And not endorsing or approving bully culture, but checks and balances and all…  had those two been bullied, or at the very least humbled, they wouldn’t be famous and glorified for being the fuging idiots they are now.  It seriously pisses me off… they both have done and said multiple, openly racist stuff and major media keeps pushing them, talking about them, and propping them up… and then dummies like Puka who don’t need the platform or exposure lend their celebrity to them.  fuging idiot… and even the other streamers, I don’t get - Speed, Kai…  I don’t understand making nobodies famous at all, but there is at least entertainment value to some degree there, and I could see how young, impressionable kids would find them something to aspire to (sadly), or view as “cool.”  But Ross and Neon?  They’re just shitty, shitty nerds with big ass mouths. I’ve went back recently and watched some classics (in two very different eras and categories 😂)  like Robocop and Idiocracy.  And what I find fascinating is how both movies illustrate how stupid society became by showing what the citizenry is entertained by.  In both, society became anti-intellectual and the citizenry were entertained by lowest denominator, primal-type absurdity - poo like, “Ouch! My Balls!”  Or on Robocop, a guy is a watching a show where they are smashing cakes on ladies’ breasts and then a guy says a line as the camera zooms in like, “I’d buy that for a dollar!” and the audience thinks it’s hilarious.  That’s where I feel like we are now.  Like who watches that clip with Puka and thinks any of that poo is funny or cool?  If I was Puka, I’d honestly be wondering why tf I’m hanging out with these beta ass, racist, cretin ass weirdos.
    • 7 wins this year and some of those against really good teams and yall think Canales might get fired? Lol Good luck getting a better coach in here if that happens.
